Probaly.. I have a pocket in mine but I was lucky enough to have a console that came with a factory honda EQ so i never had that little built in cubby.

I like that idea even better than the original option CD player. Were there any issues aside from matching up the wires in the harness? (I'd probably just wire up an adapter to avoid cutting the car's wiring harness.)
Where did you get the part that plugs into the later style Honda radios?

When I picked up my CRX the previous owner cut the harness off or someone did. So I Just purchased a ( reverse OEM Harness ) that had the 99 style OEM plug with bare wires on the other end and then just found the schematics and wired it up accordingly works 100% Perfect. If you like I can post where I got the schematic and purchased the harness. I am at work right now so I dont have it available to me.. The illumination comliments my Type R Cluster as well

How much did CDs cost back then?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Let's just say they costed alot. I remember back in 1991, a bottom-feeder Sony or Kenwood AM/FM/CD player costed around $300 (about the price of a good mid-high range deck today). And those models were pre-amp only - no ability to power speakers. I would not want to think about how much a factory Honda CD player would have costed a couple of years earlier. By the way, CDs themselves costed around $18 each - quite a bit more than they do now. And the recording industry was probably making a killing since the technology to copy CDs (not to mention file-sharing) would not be available to consumers for a few more years.
Oh, and forget about playing MP3 CDs on this deck! Back in those days, people used something called a 'CD changer' if they wanted to hear alot of music on the road. Oops, I don't know if they even had CD changers back in 1989.

I love OEM Honda parts just as much as the next guy... but damn.. CD tech was young when that **** came out, i bet it functions like **** and skips all over the place over bumps??....
I think I paid around $17 or $18 for my first CD back then. and the used to come in these huge boxes that were 2 to 3 times taller than the CD itself.

No. He IS talking CDs. Back in the day, CDs used to come in a box that was MUCH longer than the CD case itself in an attempt to deter theft.
