battery relocation?
is it worth it?
why put more weight in the back, i know for balance, but like, it's fwd?
so wouldnt u want that oddsome weight in front?
errr???
lemme know

There's a DSP GSR that runs out here with the battery relocated to the trunk. I asked him the same thing, and his point was well taken. It doesn't make a huge difference, but the % change that it made in the weight distribution (I can't remember the number, but I can get it) and the added engine compartment room made it worth the small expense. FWD or not, you already have plenty of weight % in the front!

Here's some stuff I found from Moroso at Summit Racing:

I can't link directly to the image because of some java script they use to negotiate their site. I can't remember the exact prices, but it would be right around $200 for both of the parts pictured! That seems like a lot to me.
The sealed box seems like a good idea to me, even though it's pretty expensive (around $100). It's airtight, keeps water out and nasty battery stuff in, and it looks easy to mount (unlike a plain 'ole battery). The cable kit, however, doesn't look like it's worth $100. I already have 16' of 2 awg cable laying around from my stereo days that I paid less than $40 for, and so-so battery clamps are no more than $10/pair. You can ground it in the rear, so no need for two runs of 2 awg cable, IMHO. Just the (+) side. The rest can be had from Radio Shack or a hardware store for less than $10. So that's $60 worst case, plus the $100 for the sealed box, which isn't totally necessary but would be nice if your new battery location is exposed to the elements or is in the cab of your car.
*edit* plus, the battery box is "Spoon Blue," LOL!

thanksfor the links. where do you guys place the battery box inthe rear trunk?
I was thinking of relocating the battery to the back of my R as well.. not really for "Weight balance" reasons, but more for freeing up space in the engine bay.. I was thinking i could use the space for a Oil catch can...and maybe the horn for the car alarm.
that space where the battery is located in the engine can be used for many things. it's prime real estate..
here's an interesting use for that space... http://integra.vtec.net/geeser/cold_air.html
I would either put the oil catch can or a relocated oil filter from an oil intercooler where the battery is now.
...the weight distrbution is also another issue...the 5 kg is still up front.

FYI for most sactioned race bodies the battery must be in a battery box unless you used a completely sealed unit like the Optima sp?

y dont just get those ODDESSY light weight battery, they are only 5kg in weight compare to standard around 12kg.
More info at http://www.odysseyfactory.com/
Any charging issues with using a battery that small? Which one would we use for the integra, any ideas on cost?

Now I just have to figure out which model is for us.

If it fits like the M3, then I'll be doing that ASAP.
