Default D16Y8 or D16Z6, help me out.

arite, well... I was thinking about getting the B18B1 but i looked at some of the other threads and changed my mind. I'm basically thinkin about a single vtec with future plans for turbo but i have a few questions. (this is goin into an EG) I know i'd have to change to obd2 but i'm ok with that. The only reason I sort of want the Y8 over the Z6 is because it's newer/fresher =P

1.) between the z6 and y8, is either one of them more fit for turbo than the other?

2.) on average, whats the price difference between the two like?

3.) Anything u think I should be aware of before choosing one over the other?

get a z6, it's cheaper, less wiring & OBD1 is better for tuning. Just use the y8 tranny & you'll be golden.

Exactly. The Y8 trans has steel shifter forks, much better than the aluminum shifter forks in the Z6 tranny. Believe me, you don't want to find out how bad aluminum shifter forks suck when your 100 miles from home at a street race like I did.

hm... i was only worried cuz i thought maybe the newer motor would run better than the older motor. even tho it really depends on how the person treated it but it might be a less chance of the motor being messd up. but i dont know much about motors and how bad of a beating they can take....

z6 oil pump is better quited for high revving (im sure I will hear something about this).

If you have the option for z6, go for it!
