Default JDM D15B question??

My buddy just picked up an 88 crx si with a JDM D15B in it. The guy who put it in had no idea what he was doing or what he had, but I don't know a whole lot about d series motors. What I am wondering is that there is a big oil passage on the back of the head that has been sealed off and was wondering what that would be for. The valve cover doesn't say vtec on it and the spark plugs are towards the back of the head unlike vtec heads. The oil passage is on the backside of the head close to the distributor. There is also pm3 stamped on the front of the head. Is there any information on this motor? Thanks

If it had the vtec head on it there would be a P08 stamped on it.

I know that, but why is there an oil passage on the back of the head, it's pretty big.

most likely its the carb version and they blocked it off cause of that. i remember when i was looking at single cam motors at a jdm motor warehouse they said u gotta block it off the carb thingy, and they told us they can give us a part number from a toyota that fits exactly in it

No one ever said it was VTEC, I knew it wasn't for the fact that the plug tubes are the wrong way, and it has PM3 stamped on the head, not P08. The block off on the back is just big though, I was thinking it was from a carb one also.
