Default outer edge of sleeve chipped... do i need new sleeves?

i bought a d16y8 block for 100 bucks
on one cylinder, there is the tiniest chip off the top of the sleeve, on the outer side of the wall (where coolant is)

anyone run a block like this? it sounds like i need to re-sleeve it

i think you should be fine, check the surface with a straightedge to make sure the surface is flat, otherwise it should be fine if its on the coolant passage side.

the block will be honed and resurfaced anyways

I don't think it's a good idea to use it because what if there really is a microscopic hairline crack that you can't see right now. If you use the motor and the sleeve is cracked, it's gonna go right down the entire sleeve.

anyway, if it's not cracked now, it will be more prone to crack than a sleeve in good condition. Either way, I think it's a bad idea.
