Default code 8 help

ok so my i was driving my car today and it started hesitating/missing below 3k rpm like it was a couple weeks ago and it would barely idle. i thought maybe the plug wire was off again. i stopped and checked under the hood and everything looked normal so i just try to continue home. it progressively got worse and was stuttering pretty bad now. i slowed down to make a turn and when i tried to accelerate it wouldnt hardly at all and would go over about 3500 rpm. i went maybe 1/8 of a mile and it sputtered real bad and went dead. the first thing i did was check the ecu(pg7) and it was showing a code 8. the car wouldnt start back up except once and then just stuttered and died again. i had to get it towed home. so now for the question. what should i do to fix it? i searched but really couldnt find anything helpful. i think i've read somewhere that i should replace the distributor. do u think this would fix it? if so what dizzy should i buy? a zc or would just and 88-89 teg one work?

it's the dist. more than likely. mine did the exact same thing. you need to get the dist. that matches your ecu. code 8 is tdc position

it might be your crank sensor instead of the dizzy. something similar happened to me and that was the culprit. I was cruisin down the hiway with a friendly ol' cop following me at 130 whe my tach started instantaneously dropping a few thousand rpm and the engine would kick real bad b/c the computer runs off the same signal as the tach. after I checked all of the wiring including the spliced in sensor (my stock hf motor has the sensor built into the dizzy so I cut the wires and spliced 'em to the sensor on the exhaust cam) I came to the conclusion that it was the sensor. my zc ran after I replaced that and the only problem that I had after that was I overhauled my dizzy as part of troubleshooting and I crossed some plug wires. #dumbass-erg I was sooo pissed...
