Default Newby needs some help

Hi all. Obviously, I am new to this forum. I was wondering if I could get some input on some work that needs to be done on my 97 Accord V6. I have recently spent 2K on repairs for this car and it looks like more is required, so if I can get it done myself that woudl be cool.

Anyway, I did some on-line troubleshooting and found that one of two things could be wrong with the car. (The idle on the car goes up and down when the engine gets warm)

1. The throttle possition sensor is bad
2. The map sensor is bad.

Whats weird is, that this was never an issue until I got the timing belt changed and the O2 sensor replaces. Seems like the O2 sensor repair messed it up?

So my question is, can I replace these items myself or is this something that has to be done by a professional? Also, is there any way to troubleshoot which one is causing this witout me having to take it in to the shop?

Thanks ahead for any help you all can give me.

I'd get a service manual and look into at least diagnosing the problem yourself before you take it to a mechanic.

Since you didn't have the problem until the timing belt was changed it's possible the mechanic screwed something up.

I don't know the V6 too well, but are those the 2 sensors where it's possible to interchange their elecrical plugs??

What do you mean replace my thermostat? Just go buy a radiator thermostat from the local parts store? Or is this some engine temp thermostat that needs to read out to my gagues?
