Gauging interest in Koni Race Shocks
This post isn't commercial in nature (since I'm not affilitiated w/ Koni NA or its subsidiaries in anyway), but I wanted to see how much interest the Prelude guys who track, auto-x or race, in off the shelf, ready to go Koni shocks that've already been revalved, shortened and are ready to go?
Here are the general details from Lee Grimes at Koni NA:

The RACE series shocks will be out soon and they are basically a premade from Holland version of the SPSS3 race valved Sport shocks that have been shortened one inch on the front and 15mm on the rear. Since they are being built the first time to length and spec, then the price of otherwise purchasing then servicing comes way down and there is essentially no turn around time either as we hope to have them on the shelf. I hope to have final pricing this week but we are looking at retail about $1000 for a set of four complete. We are doing these for Civic, CRX and Integra only to start with as it is a bit risky for us to develop and inventory these units and I have not been able to establish if there would be enough Prelude interest for us to justify the risk or making a production run.
I have never been onto the Prelude part of H-T so I don't know how receptive those guys would be to them. With the much bigger spring rates (easily 1000+ lbs) that serious track Preludes tend to run, they will be right near the very top range for what these 8041 size shocks can be expected to really do well with for an extended time of hard racing so I am a bit cautious. If a guy is really track serious, the jump to 3011 is a quicker option for the Prelude than for most of the smaller cars. If you have any input, let me know.

With respect to how many sets they'd need to make, for a minimum run, here's the info I got from Lee as well:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">
I can do then in as few as 24 pairs of fronts and 25 pairs of rears basically. All Preludes from '92 and up will fit the same dampers. These would be shortened bodies and race valved. they would come with normal spring seats but a proper drop on coil-over sleeve is available as well.
Many thanks,
Lee

So, it seems that if we could get 20 or so people interested, we could make this happen.
For those of you who may not be familiar with Lee and Koni, he's been providing the roadrace / auto-x guys here on H-T with real world support and suspensions that work as advertised 100%.
The valving is matched to the spring rates you want to run and each shock is dyno'd to make sure it works as it should, before it ships to you - Koni NA is also there for tech support, etc.
These shock would be single adj (rebound only), but for most of us, that's all the adjustment we really need.
At $1000 for four shocks, you're saving well over $500 or so if you were to buy new Koni sports and have them openend up, shortened and revalved; you're saving over $1000 with these over the option of going with the 3011 series shocks.
I'm in; who else needs new shocks ?

I wish we would've had this 2 years ago when I bought my Konis
Since I already have my OTS Konis & can have them revalved & shortened for about $560, I probably won't be joining this group buy
But for any luders who want to get into auto-x & road racing, this is a great deal
