Which Cams... please help
I have a itr motor with a built head including, S2 valvesprings, S2 reatainers, Ferrea valves, bronze valve guides, 3 angle valve job, mildly port n polish. i have 320rc injectors and a Skunk 2 ecu, i have civic type r cams in there now and they r making ok power till like 8500, but i want more topend. l want a powerband from like 5600-@ 9500, if my motor is capable and does a stock bottom end have enough Compression to run a cam that will provide me with what i want. Please let me know what sum of u guys r runnin cam wise on stock compression and what numbers ur layin down, i basically wanna hit 200 whp. Im intrested in S2 stage 2's and jun 3's can u guys steer me away if they r not good, and or how much is the cost for em.. thanx guys
I'm am no cam expert by any means. However, in front of you at your disposal, you have one of the most powerful and informative tools of the 21st century. Wat is this you ask? Why, it's the internet.
If your going to beaf up the valve train like it sounds like you have, or are going to then JUN's or any stage 3 cam for that matter will work nicely. Look into a different head gasket maybe? Anyone?

Search you n00b or GTFO!
I've had personal bad experience with S2S2 on a customer's car. So I would probably not ever purchase a set of S2 products for my car. I would highly suggest JUN 3s over the S2s.

With stock compression, running anything bigger than a Skunk2 stage 2, or JUN 3's will loose power in all the useable range.
You should think about upgrading your bottom end BEFORE touching the head. A healthy bump in compression with an ideal header/exhaust combo will most likely match/beat the power produced by simply installing a set of large cams...not to mention the great midrange the ITR cams provide.

personally, I am curious about your choice of valvetrain components. I wouldnt run Jun 3s on SK2 springs... they are meant to run with Jun springs. For example, Tom at Portflow has been doing this forever and he doesnt even reccomend the Sk2 springs. His setup with the ITR outer and stiffer inner can run J3s, but there are better cams out there. If you want to go that big, the Buddy Club 4s which is a higher lift cam like the J3 will KILL them everywhere because of the duration. The
BC4s are awesome. the all motor cats have been seeing some amazing results with the BC cams lately

Cams are reliable as long as they dont break. Which is few and far between with new manufacturing methods and higher quality cores being used.
Spoon cams are more of a "road race" cam because they use a longer duration, with a mild lift so you can peak higher in the RPM's while maintaining a very nice broad powerband with a mild compression ratio. Another perk is you do not have to upgrade valvetrain (assuming you already have ITR or better). His Skunk2 Stage 2's make more power than the spoon cams with the aforementioned compression.
