Default my coolant is disappearing

the coolant in my reservior has been deisappearing a lot faster than normal ever since it started getting a little colder outside, i haven't seen any signs of a leak when i check the ground or look under the car and no white smoke so i don;t think it is the head gasket so why am i refilling like every week or two???

this was happening to my z6. so i didn't worry about it for a while then it started getting worse and worse till i kept running out of coolant completely. on trip home from school i think i put more coolant/water in my car than gas!

so i takes it to the mechanic (after cracking and replacing my radiator) and he told be that i had.... a blown headgasket!!! good jeorb i says to myself. then i just bought another z6 and put it in. (another debocle but that's another story)

have the coolant tested. (forget the name of the test) do you smell the coolant burning in your exhaust? coming from the vents?

hate to be the harbiger of doom but at least check it out. cause if it's much of anything else it'll be cheaper than a new engine if you f yours up.

z6 are pretty notorious for head gaskets yes have the cooling system pressure checked at your local shop, its probably another head gasket if you see no signs of leakage

if the problem persist and you have no leaks them your head gasket is bad and your slowly burning coolant

God, headgaskets on these cars are so damned easy to fix. Just grab one at the part store and have at it. It's almost impossible to **** it up. Use proper torque specs.

i have exact same problem on my ek4.

no sign of leak at all. got mechanic to check it and he couldnt find any probs. reckons it could be heater matrix. said i need to pull up carpet in footwell and check for coolant.

Do this, that's a good idea... also look at the engine oil. How much is there? What does it look like/smell like? Does it look foamy after the engine has been running?

problem solved, it's not the head gasket, i found the leak, it was a bad hose clamp on my lower radiator hose but it was leaking on the bumper not the ground
