I own a 1990 CRX Si the motor is a 1997 D16Y7 rewired to read my OBDO ECU a friend of mine wants to convert it to a MINI ME. I allready have a PWO ecu (OBDO from an SiR CRX) and he has a d16z6 head from a 1995 Civic.

My questions are will the head be a direct bolt on and what else should I buy or need? I know I will need a head gasket but is that it? and will I be able to tell a difference in the horsepower (currently using my stock CRX Si tranny). I currently have a Greddy exhaust, high flow CAT and CAI plus a DC header. Just curious before I pay this guy $250.00 for the swap. Thanks.

250$ is a bit high for a head to me at least, umm you will need the oil jet removed from the d16y7 and then get a vtec controller since your ecu is obd0. you will run your old injectors and i think you need the d16y8 head gasket.not sure about what timming belt you whould need.

 

I was under the understanding that the JDM PWO ECU from the CRX SiR would control the vtec once it has been wired. Is that not correct? and what should I pay this guy then?

he is supplying the head removing the oil squirter and replacing the gasket and installing the ECU and wiring everything up. what is a fair price if $250.00 is too steep?

 

if hes doing everything then thats cool, yeah your probably right about the ecu, i havent read up on it yet.

 

Isn't the PW0 the ECU from the B16A? Yup, so how is it going to take to running a SOHC motor?
