Semi productive weekend, and the first Snag
Picked up a trailer in Roanoke on Saturday. Cool. Nothing fancy, just a full deck trailer for a good price. Thanks TeamNextGenChris.
Finally mounted the oil cooler to the car, using some homemade brackets and some cut up fuel line to provide some insulation.
Then moved on to putting a TPS on the throttle body and that's when the **** hit the fan. I tried to cut slots in the rivet and unscrew. Nope. So I gound off the head of the rivets, removed what was left of the TPS and used some vice grips. One came out, so, encouraged, I moved on the the next one, which snapped. ****. Tried to cut a slot again, no go (duh). So I went to the last resort and tried drilling out the damn thing.
Small bit, center punched it and of course, the bit kept walking off the steel screw and into the soft aluminium.
Result: I need a new throttle body. !@#$@!@.
That was the first snag I have encountered so far building the car. I consider myself lucky and keep crossing my fingers.

When I have a stubborn screw, I like to use one of those screwdrivers that you change the bits on... take the bit and a hammer and tap (or pound) it into the screwhead. Put screwdriver on the bit, and remove
and it's a fine idea when it's a screw that you are dealing with. Them were rivets. Rivet heads with a threaded shaft. why? I wish I knew. Seems like that should be a ford design...
Corey, where do you find $20 TBs? I found one on ebay for $75, and I am waiting on an answer from a H-T guy for a price... The junk yard in Gainesville didn't have one when i called last time (no D16A6 engines of CRX/Cvic Si).

well, if I can find the not some common H series ones for 75$, Im sure civic ones can be found for less, did you search the classifieds here?
I just called Beaver's Honda to see if they had one and they are saying $75.00.

This is where I (and I am sure many others around here) end up getting alot of H/A stuff on the cheap. Might want to give them a call (and they do ship). Also, for new, you might want to check Majestic Honda (although that won't be cheap in comparison). I have one but its going to need the same procedure as yours did (removing the tps) so it is probably of little worth. I am sure I'll be looking for one after I destroy this one similarly

When you buy a used throttle body, be careful if it gets shipped because the plastic TPS often get damaged in shipping. I had this situation when I got my ZC car that the TPS was smashed so I bought a used intake and that TPS was broken when it arrived too.
Too bad the TPS alone are not available (or at least I don't know about them) as they are fragile and regularly damaged.

Lee, you can find the TPS on ebay all day long. As a matter of fact, I have one in my garage right now. In theory, and if the rivets are not too gummed up, you can unscrew them and replace them with honest-to-goodness screws. I would highly recommend soaking the rivets in WD-40 over night before attempting the operation though...
Thanks for the reference Adam. I may give them a call if Mike doesn't come though with one.
Corey, I haven't checked the classified yet - that will be my next avenue though. Thanks.

I have a pair of intakes with bad TPS sitting in the garage so maybe I'll try taking them off since I have nothing to lose but time. Are the Ebay TPS used or new? I'd obviously prefer to get a new one if I'm going to this trouble.

the ebay TPS are used as honda will only sell the whole TB.
Searching for "honda TPS" gets back 8 results, and I think that at least 6 would work. Honda used the same TPS for most of their throttle bodies from 88 to 2000.
