Default Blew the tranny

So the other night comming home from a party, I get off of the highway onto some farm roads, and I decide "hey a curvy farm road and nobody in sight" so I take off and rev 1st gear up to like 7 then bang 2nd in an attempt to chirp, but the second i put it in gear before I can even engage the clutch, my ol' failthful DX trans blows up.

Ive been contemplating swaping for an Si trans for quite sometime now, and I guess the time is now. I've come to the concusion that they are pretty rare, Ive searched Ebay and HT all over and come up with nothing. Does anyone know any other sites where i might be able to find one? Cant let the hatch chill in the driveway all winter and be stuck with a minivan.

What was the condition of your tranny before you blew it up. Was it making any noise or grinding. I'm in the same boat as you I can't find any decent si trannys only ones that need a rebuild. If only we could use d series hydro trannys.

second gear would always grind if i shifted to fast, but if i was easy with it, no grinds, also it would make a lound noise in second gear if i was moving at slow rpms like 2500 but if i got on the throttle it would go away

you shouldn't have a hard time finding one in a local junkyard, just look for a car that was rear ended with less than 200k on it and looks like it was owned by somebodys grandma. should be easy to find theres a mostly ford yard in gettysberg that has some imports, they want 300 for either an engine or a tranny but they dont really care, they will sell a geo tranny for 75 or a gsr motor for 250...... etc.
