head is not getting any oil...any suggestions?
my cousin was driving around 60mph on the freeway when his timing belt snapped. so we towed the car back to his cousins house, where i pulled the head, then had the bent valves replaced, etc. bought a new headgasket, timing belt and tensioner.
after that, i put the head back on, torqued everything down to spec, and the car ran fine for 2 days. afterward, the motor started making a "metal to metal" noise. it sounded like it was coming from the head, like the cams were grinding against the cam caps/journals. eventually the car died and wouldnt start.
so we towed it back to his house, and i pulled off the valve cover. normally there would be oil all over the springs and cams and such, but there was no oil in the head. it was dry. i checked the oil level on the dip stick and there was plenty of oil in the oil pan.
any suggestions what it could be? i was thinking the oil pump may have gone bad. lmk thanks.

When you remove the head, you are suppose to take the orifice out of the block and change the o-ring. That could be your problem.
I think if it was you pump, your idiot light would of illuminated.

Take the orifice out and give it a good clean. Check on the underside of the cylinder head to make sure the passage is clean too.
To remove the orifice, thread any 10mm head bolt that you took off the car in to the orifice then pull out. Make sure you change the oring before you reinstall it.
