Ticking sound: POSSIBLE BENT VALVE?

I read and search a lot of posts about bent valves due to over revving and such. But i have a dilemma myself now. Here's the story:
I finished paying toll and i decided to "mash" on my car a little bit. I ripped it in 1st and i attempted to shift to 2nd, but i misshifted and my RPMs jumped to 7500, and i quickly let off the gas. I drove it all the way to the city until i hit a red light. I heard a loud ticking sound and i assumed it was the car next to me. As soon as i let off 1st, i heard the ticking get louder and knew immediately it was my car. I thought to myself that maybe my belt had came off and its hitting something in my engine bay. I pulled over, and popped my hood and heard the ticking coming from the head area, noticeably near the injectors. Now my question is... Does this sound like the effects of a bent valve or valves?
I checked compression, and it came up 180-185 throughout all 4 cylinders. My car idles fine, and to accelerate fine on the highway (although i havent taken it to redline since the ticking sound). So, if its not bent valves, what else could it be?

If you were going from 1st to 2nd you didnt really misshift, you just upshifted. it would be misshift if your were like going from like 5th to 3rd

Oh oops.. wrong choice of words i guess. Well, regardless, i know misshifting a downshift (like 5th to 2nd) can cause a bent valve because im overrevving like crazy and the rev limiter doesnt help in that situation. But in an event like mine, where im upshifting, and the rev limiter should be in effect, is there a possibility that i bent a valve? Also, what is the stock rev limiter for a 95 LS? I know for a fact i hit 7500 rpms, and then i let off the gas.

is it bad? going 5th to 3rd? (gsr= was going 60 on 5th..and drop to 3rd..is bad?)

5th to 3rd isnt that bad, when you from 5th to 3rd you know what your doing, so its not really an error. Ive never had any problems from 5th to 3rd if the rpms are lower in 5th.
What did it for me, was I was wanting to go from 5th to 4th on the interstate at arround 70mph. I went into 2nd...
you could smell the rubber from where immediately barked and slowed down.
Needless to say the car went up to arround 9k rpm, It still ran, but immediately after it felt weak, and when youd get off the interstate, it would idle like ****, and barely stay running.
I desided to rebuild my engine(197k), which is in the current half way phase right now, upon disassembly, there was no piston damage, and when the valves were closed it actually looked good... Im sure im in for a supprise when i have the headwork done.

just readjust your valves, had this happen 3-4 times, misshifting 4th, going into 2nd...the TOP of 3rd gear into 2nd...my stock LS has seen at least 9000-9500...which is not cool. readjust valves, you should be fine
yea just do a valve lash on the head. that should fix the ticking. dont think ur valves r bent cuz u got good compression across all cylinders
A stretched out timing belt will cause the valves to tick on a dohc motor also. Depending on how many miles you've got on your engine/timing belt, I'd do a valve adjustment and check your t-belt tension.

Timing belt was changed within the last 20k miles. Valve adjustment and checkin the t-belt tension will be something i'll do this weekend.
Injectors tick also. I have had a ticking, and re-ajusted my valves. Its the injectors because nothing went away after I re-ajusted. Old injectors tick. Its not bad, jstu a sign of wear.
