170,000 is alot of miles, even for a honda. You can find a d16 long block with much lower miles for that.

Did you ever get the Si brakes on there? How do they work?

Bah. My 89 EF Si has got 285,xxx on the ticker, and puts out 98 wheel horsepower, bone stock motor, stock intake, stock header. This is on a mustang dynamometer, which generally reads lower than an inertia-style chassis dyno such as a Dynojet. My hatch takes all the autocross abuse I can throw at it in CSP. Oh...and the thing doesn't burn oil, or at least nothing noticeable between it's oil changes.

This may be true, but your engine must have been taken care of. Who knows if the 170,000 mile engine was taken care of well. Judging from most people I know, it probably wasn't taken care of well.
