For x-mas Im going to buy my friend a deck for his 1997 4 Door Civic Ex . I remeber reading somewhere that an aftermarket deck will work for his car, but the Remote keyless entry was programed into the stock Headunit. My question for you guys is, is this true or false? Any help will be much appreciated. As a return gift hes buying me Halo2 and a 4th controller =P

 

i dont think that the radio has anyhting to do with the alarm... you would get a better responce in the appropriate(sp?) forum...

 

Yes, thats true, Inorder to keep the alarm working you will need to make/purchase? a harness so you can hide the OEM headunit behind the aftermarket headunit. with both of this still working. For a heads up next time post here. Audio / Security / Video

 

The OEM head unit will be placed behind your center counsel towards the bottom. You will indeed need this for your keyless entry

 

True, Just got done doing it no longer then a week ago

 

Ok, So just so I have a list of everything. What is needed besides the new head unit? I know for my old Ek I just needed a Wiring harness. Any help will be much appreciated. ~Brian
