Default exhaust

I have an ep3 with an aem short ram intake and a 2 1/2 inch exhaust. Is the exhaust to large for a basically stock setup? One night I got beat by another ep3 with just an intake.

with that kind of setup you might loose a little power on the low end. if you get a race header it might be a little better.

2 1/2 isn't horrible but 2 1/4 on a stock setup is better, really larger piping is only need on forced induction or crazy hp all motor set ups.

If your lagging on low end a silencer or something could help increase backpressure for better accel.

try a skunk2 exhaust, i think their piping is 2.3 or some where around that. good back pressure...

You mention the race headers I've seen a lot of talk about it. Overall power is increased but doesn't it hurt low end? And since its only for rsx type s is there any fitting issues on an ep3?

The EP3 is shorter than the RSX so it won't fit w/o modification.

you may have issues if u have an upgraded sway bar. they do make race headers that fit specifically for the ep, dc sports is the only one that requires modification

If that guy with the Type S head only beat a A3 powered EP by one car his setup has issues or he can't drive.
