second intake runner in plenun open 24/7..bad?
OK here is the problem...or concern i have with my engine! I had done this F22a swap (140hp) last year for my 93 lx 4dr. We have everything hooked up on the engine except this intake runner valve (circled in red)that hooks up from a air box and vacuum lines and a electronic solenoid. Apparently this is to open the second intake runner in the plenum for during high rpms, unfortunately it is open all the time because this isnt hooked up...is this causing me to run lean....i notice i dont have much low end power..could this be the problem? The thing is...i dont know how to wire the damn thing...i have the air box with the solenoid...which i got from the junkyard off a 95 accord ex.....i am not sure what wire goes where or how to hook up the wires..can someone please help...i think this is causing my car to run lean which is terrible on the engine....oh here is a quick snap of my car....not into big rims or anything...just like it clean...THNX guys
s understanding that a dual stage mani is designed optimised to work only when the butterflies open at set rpm... the intake charge when they open is at a set frenquency and if they are open all the time then it would take longer to get to the frenquency of optimal effeciency hence no low end power, no adverse effects besides not going as fast as you should be.
hmmm....ok well...my understanding is that if they arent meant to be open at idle/low rpm would that cause you to run lean...since the second set of runners would cause more air to flow into the combustion chamber? I would also like to hook this thing up!! can anyone help me..tell me what wires go where!!!
All the air still goes through the throttle body first. The second set of runners just makes a larger plenum. It will have a small effect on mix because the fuel maps are based on higher air speed from the single runner at the lower rpms. You will loose throttle response from the bigger plenum effect.

Just take the vacuum hose from the black IAB box to the gold diaphragm and run it from the gold diaphragm to an unused nipple on the manifold and they will be controlled by vacuum...
but if you want to wire them up and have them be RPM acytivated by the ECU the you need to run the one wire from the IAB box to the PT6 ecu...and the other to a power source... if you don't have the corresponding ECU for the A6 motor then you are SOL and have to run it off of vac.
This is what another person said to do...will it be effecient hooking up just off the vacuum lines....or in other words will it be ok on my engine if i do this!

yep thats exactly what you need to do to have it work...if you have the swap motor f22a with its coresponding ecu then you have the ecu pinout to wire it up you just have to wire them in.....get a helms engine and go to work.
I would think that if you hooked it up to be closed all the time that you would get mid range power back and then run out of breath at the top end because the plenum is too small. dual stage mani so it kinda needs both stages to work rite.
