Default teg problem after headgasket change

i changed my headgasket in my 94 gs-r teg... after i changed it i was pour anti freeze in and it leaked out of the intake manifold... i stopped and let it dry over night... then i tightened the bolts more... when i started my engine it was like someone had the gas to the floor but it obiously wasnt... i checked the carb and its not stuck or nothing... so i changed the intake manifold gasket... no antifreeze nothing... so i started it same thing.. when it was in mid rev i turned off the car and turned it back on and it went to 5 grand then to 2 and back to 5 etc.. i can hear a wistle sound but i have my cold air intake off and it sounds higher pitch... also when i let off the clutch when its reving the speedometer goes up to 20 and back down and everything else... HELP

Did you put the headgasket on right?? maybe you got it backward and is causing those problems, and recheck everything else.

I agree, the whistling nose....and your rpms jumping up and down....i had the same problem while puting gsr in my hatch....check all the hoses carefully for cracks...and even check the pipes for cracks....it sounds like you dont have a full on leak...but just a little one somewhere.

Check vacuum first, but it still could be you didn't do the head gasket right. Did you tighten the bolts to spec.? What kind of head gasket? MAny times you can get surging with a bad head gasket, but normally it like 2-3 K RPM not 5 K RPM. Keep us posted.

the head gasket will only go on one way.. so its not backwards or upside down
the head bolts were tightened to spec with a torque wrench (got spec from chilton)
the whistleing sound is coming from under the intake manifold so im pretty sure its either a vac hose or the manifold...
its gettin tore off and looked at tonight
ill keep postin thanks

OK, if you did everything to spec. and there is no coolant leakage, then the intake or vacuum area is the best bet. Best of luck in diagnosing it. I know it is hard to see around the intake area. I did my head gasket in April. Keep us posted.

MAn the head gasket is really easy to put on upside down.
Check for vacum leaks
As for the carb if theres one on your CAR I'd really like to see it LOL J/K

Yea check your vacuum first make sure everthing is correct. If not you might have bolted your manifold on wrong, Spray starter FLU where you think the noise is coming from if the rpm's jump then you have an air leak.....
