for macco. they are ok paint jobs that are cheap, but they are exactly what you pay for, a cheap paint job. Try calling a few autobody shops in your area, they usually do very good paint jobs, Stop by and see if they have a proper booth and a good painter.

Check out http://www.mobworks.com/ They do a lot of the members rides here and seem to do a really nice job. I don't know cali so I'm not sure how close they are to you
My cousin's husband had taken my hatchback to Maaco - before I got it - and had the $265 paint job done on it, this before labor and all. It looked nice, but after two years the roof and hood had started to fade. I don't know if it was because I didn't wax enough or if it was the South Texas sun beating down on iteveryday.

bottom line: maaco does work that is just ok. Everyone is differnt be sure that you make sure that they know what they are doing. And if they dont seem competent, goto a different one. Also makesure that thier workload is low, that way they spend more time on your car.
Also be sure to do the bodywork/prep yourself. It goes a long way
<<<i have painted 4 different cars at maaco and 3 turned out good, 1 so so

I would have done it myself and saved a couple hundred, but I didn't have a paint booth, and it's too cold outside. I'd say say get it done by maaco, then clearcoat it yourself like, 6x. Shiny and durable as a ****.

yeah just wait a year a two. the paint will begin to have fall out you wont even be able to keep the paint lookig good. the paint will oxidize so bad it wont even be funny. there is only one good thing about a maaco paint job. its great if you are trying to sell a car for the most money.

this process is known as media blasting. they shoot it with plastic pellets. you wont go far asking for it to be bead blasted every one will look at you funny.
im doing this to a crx of mine, and i was quoted a price of $1,500.00 (just for the media blasting) if i were to completely disassemble the chassis of everything, and remove all the rubberized substance adhering to the car, and they would put it on a rotisserie, and do the inside and outside of the car

Champ white looks soooo nice on a crx.....but so does the Oem red....everyone can see the Ed's from a far with rio red.....But champ white is so smooth....it's almost pimp status with 5% visible light passing through your double limo style tint....****.... BTA Summit white is cleaner then Champ....but it's domestic...it's like cheating your car.
how much is paint running now? I know red is the most $$ b/c it has the most pigments in it...but still can anyone gimmie a good price quote on the OEM paiont b/c i wouldn't like to ripped off....by some dude trying to tell ferrari red and rio red are the same....
I think I like the Macco cheapy then clearcoating it yourself. That's kind of a cool idea. I know someone who does that stuff, though, so after the winter is done raping my car I'm getting JDM front/rear and painting it black.

You might as well have some one drive in front of you doing 50 M.P.H. and pour buckets of **** green paint on your car.
I don't live in Cali., but if your Macco's paint jobs are like our's just save yourself the trouble and set it on fire.
Seriousely though-just ask the next guy you see with a paint job that appeals to you.

the key words in this "just had done". give your paint time, 6 months to a year say bye bye to the nice glossy finish. after a year you wont even be able to see a reflection in the paint. 18 months you can run your hand against the surface, and you will have a chalky residue all over your hand in whatever color your paint is.
