Default race header + hi flow cat

like it says race header + hi flow cat. i think i remember reading that a cat can be used with the jrrh. is this true and is it possible with any other race headers like dc.

i know that a race header is supposed to eliminate the cat.

As far as I know, the race headers eliminate the cat...so you would have no use for one. The header bolts up right to your exhaust.

unless you cut the b-pipe and weld a flange to it the high flow cat is eliminated.

i had the jr race header. this header is a two piece. the test pipe portion was cut to fit the carsound cat which was done by a muffler shop and then it was welded together. so to answer your question. yes it is possible for the jr race header.

High flow cats won't pass emissions so theres absolutely no point to it. A race heard bypass it for the best possible flow, why pay for a race header and bring its performance down?

the high flow cat may actually work well for you, if your cars a daily driver. your high end hp will hurt a little, but in return, you recieve more low and mid range torque. to top it off, your exhaust will exert a deeper tone instead of high pitch, which makes it easier on the ears during long highway drives.

high flow cat's should pass emissions...my 94 camaro passed 4 years strong with a cheapo $60 high flow from local shop. You're main concern should be the cat actually holding together...i just blew out a 2 month old carsound 2.5" high flow on my 12:1 comp d16 crx.

Dave from SMS recently tested the cfm of high flow's vs. straight pipes and found some decent info...the high flows actually do really well compared to stock cats/test pipes. I forget who did the dyno but there is one floating around with a high flow cat vs. test pipe ant the difference was no more than 2whp at very high rpms...even less difference down low. If that 2whp is something you really need for the smell/pollution then go for it...but getting a decent high flow cat wont noticably hurt your power.

Yes they will...if they didn't, people wouldn't sell them...

The JRRH/High-Flow Cat combo is still significantly better than a stock setup...the JR setup has much longer primaries and flows much better....

Oh well my $40 ebay one threw a check engine and didn't pass emissions.

I guess the actual expensive ones pass.

Need i say more? I'm guessing it was also a slim straight through design.

...actually it was a large straight thru design. 3" exterior and 2 1/2" interior piping.

Yep that's what i'm talking about...those you want to stay away from.

Try a carsound oval style, or better yet the challenger oval cat with SS matting protection.
