Default Mini Me in Automatic DX?

I don't know what to do. I have a 1989 DX Sedan with 60k miles on the D15B2 (DPFI), I want a little more power out of it so I've been thinking about going with a Y8 head. As far as the ECU goes, which ECU do I need? Keep in mind I have an automatic OBD0. Can I do it?

If not, which Non VTEC head is the best choice? Any thing (Non VTEC) better than the D15 head?

Thanks.

if you want to go obd1 get an auto p28, fairly common, or get a 88-89 auto PG7 (integra) with a vtec controler...

Thanks for clearifying,

Seems OBD1 would be the way to go, seeing as how the y8 head is OBD1. What is the Auto P28 out of?

You don't think it'll add a considerable amount of power compared to what I have now? I'm not building a race car, I just want a little more umph out of my daily driver... For example, I find it difficult to pass on the highway, and my car is sluggish with the AC on.

My other option is a DIY turbo kit like on Home made turbo, but I really don't want to destroy my daily driver with boost.

The Puerto Rican Bureaucracy
Now how are you going to hate on the sedan's like that? The four doors are incredibly light for their design and if you look into it there is a 90 pound weight difference between one years SI CRX (2174) and a DX Sedan (2264), and the same years SI Hatch (2291)weighs more yet then the sedan. I am sure you weren't very happy when you did the swap in your hatch as you were using the STD to begin with and that comes with a four speed transmission, correct? When doing the MPFI swap on a unrestricted (i.e. five speed)D15B2 you're ending up with the equivalent of the D15B7 which did come stock in the Del Sol (which weighs more then the Sedan also at 2277) and is enough to move around town fast enough. He isn't looking for an insane amount of power, but just something that will get the car moving from point A to point B with a little more umph. What did you expect from the extra injectors? 30 or so horsepower? In all reality you'll gain ~10Hp tops and that does not seem like enough to drop a vehicle from 16-17s stock to 15s.

Now if the Y8 head is used, the compression ratio will be kicked up a notch, creating some extra power and also you will have the best out of the box D-Series Intake manifold. I would wire it up as OBD-1 so that you would have the option of VTEC engaging correctly, that is with proper fuel maps and timing. In all, I wish you the best of luck

Why must you keep saying AUTO is the worst? True the auto drive-train can't hold nearly as much power but is that reason to deem the project too much money and work for nothing? If this was being done on a manual would it be deemed too much money and that he should just upgrade to a B?

Well ham, why not just follow the crowd and go for a b series motor...kinda expensive. Hell you can make a d-series compete or beat the nuts off of a b series with some time, money and effort. So if you believe auto transmissions are slow then ok whatever but when I fly by your *** when you miss a shift and look bad in front of your girl/boyfriend then just take it as a loss, go home and settle it all with some lotion and a warm towel.

Working on cars should be fun, and if someone wishes to do something new then it should be encouraged.

I say good day....
