anyone one know a fix most mechanics dont know but one told me it might be my alternator draing the engine alot cuz its too small to keep up with all the power needs on battery

With engine off check battery voltage with a multimeter. Should be about 12.0-13.2 V . (if less than that, try charging the battery or replace)Then check voltage with engine on, should be at least 13.9V, but not more than 15.9V. If not within that range change alternator. IMO I doubt it is because of the battery or alternator. I would check if cooling fans work.

I agree with prolink I don't think it is the battery/alt unless the low volts are not allowing the electric fan to kick on. Check for coolant leaks and check the coolant level. Turn the a/c on to check and see if the fan comes on.

i think you got a short somewhere between the light switch and the fan circuit, if it only does it when the lights are on, theres deff something up with those 2 curcuits...time to pull out wiring diagrams.

OK well let me tell u guys its the weirest thing ive seen, ive checked the battery voltage on and off just now and it fine, also when i fist got the car it was doing the overheating ok so i changed the thermo stat and the hose, radiator cap and radiator top cuz it had a crak, but still after it,it overheats, now most of you people say the fans arent working but they are, when the cars lights are off the fan always kick in and the temp moves up on the dash like normal but when lights are on the fan ALSO KICK IN. but the temp gage goes up before red line on my dash. witch makes me flip out and i turn on my heating system witch help the cooliing process and it cools down, now most people i ask here go it cant be overheating but it does i can feel the difference of my car and i look at the engine and its bloody hot.
so can anyone help, haha i know its a weird one,
and if anyones asking why i dont take it to a auto electrician, **** them half of the say it need hours of work to check the wiring witch most of them make up **** up and work for about 40 min and charge for about 2 hours and there not that cheap either ~ 110 an hour.

nah it doesnt, when i put my lights on the revs go up a bit then back down and when i mean go up about 0.02 revs. ok but then my car overheating and the fans kick in more often but the cars overheating not like normal it would go up one dash when the lights are on, and it goes before red line and some cases on red line

The revs going up is just your IACV doing it's job.... When is the last time your water Pump was changed? You should also get an inferred thermometer and get exact temperatures. I need to know at what temp the fans kick in, what temp the thermostat opens.(When upper and lower radiator hoses are about the same temperature from a cold start.)

wooowww i dont know how to get that reading. but what would that affect the over heating. about my water pump i dont know when it was changed last. ive got a new thermo stat and hose etc.... i might take it an auto electrician and tell him to check out my switches and all electrical on the motor. hopefully it doesnt cost alot. ill tell u all what the prob was if they find one lol

I thnk if the water is bubbling in the overflow its just a thermostat or problem with the signal,

let the car cool down, take off the radiator cap and start the car when it gets running temp the water should just flow freely out, if its splattering everywhere i think it could be a head gasket.,

this problem is driving me nuts, i get pissed off at the car, abuse my girlfriend and still cant fix it..\

takeing it to a friend of mines workshop on monday, giveing him all the info i have colleceted off the internet and leaving it with him for a week, if he cant fix it im selling it

i'd check waterpump, which is a bitch on hondas.

i would change thermostat.....its like 20 bux...you cant lose....then i;d start with all the sensors/switches maybe when the lights are on not, enough power reches the fans or something and they dont turn as fast as they are supposed to...

I've had problems with my gauge reading hot while the car was not actually overheating. It would drive me batty. What you need to do is what someone has already suggested....... Laser temp it to find out if it is overheating or not. I wouldn't take your problems to an electrician. That's just silly.

IS YOUR CAR ACTUALLY OVERHEATING?????

the engine isnt actualy heating up, there water in the overflow is bubbling but i think tahts only a result of the car thinking its reallly hot.

my car wont get right up into the red just because of the lights, but i can be driving along at night turn the lights on and it goes up a bar or two, i used to drive around at night without my lights on and the heaters cranked to get all the heat out

its happening in the day time now,, which is sorta good because the mechanic thought i was nuts when i explained to him about the lights and stuff. and of course when he took it for a drive it was fine, its weird....
TRY TURNING THE BRIGHTNESS OF YOUR DASH DOWN, it can help so i read somewhere thats if your cars not actualy getting hot.

this one i hav is strait from the honda factory in japan... i guess because we are so close we get them strait from there. I will let you guys know how i go while its at the mechanics for the next few days.

if i ccant work it out im going back to a nissan, my old silvia was the same age and never had a single problem. this time i will get a GTR though.

Hondas seem to be good strong cars, but have a lot of little problems such as this one we keep talking about.
