4WS transplant?
Curious... I may be getting a new crx in the near future, and I was wondering, what would it take to retrofit the car with 4 wheel steering from a prelude? 3rd gen or 4th gen system, whichever would work better (which one actually has more effect on steering, by the way?) I know you guys may think it's a waste of time and everything but I'm interested in doing it just as a sort of project and for the sake of doing since as far as I know nobody else has. thanks in advance

However, if that's what ya wanna do then by all means....good luck

Wasn't one of Honda's best innovations??? It was made from 88-01....new trucks are coming out with 4WS too.

if you were to attempt to put 4ws on a crx, get all the stuff you need of a 3rd gen prelude b/c those 4ws systems are mechanical while the 4th gen systems are electrical ( = bitch to even think about putting on another car)
it would be tight as hell if you got the 3rd gen system on a CRX tho

That's because they're so long they have a huge turning circle and they need it.
I had a non 4WS Prelude and the steering lock was just fine.

im not complaining, i have a 5th gen with 4ws and it works great (good enough to out handle an ITR) honda counts the prelude to be its flagship and on even new model they alway use the best parts that are available at the time.
don't make comments like "Honda 'tested' it on the prelude, and for one reason or another figured that it wasn't a good idea to offer it on other models or even continue it on the prelude. It sure didn't prove itself like vtec did..."
everyone says how good ATTS is, but have you seen it on any other hondas ?.... exactly

yea how often do u see all the luxurys that a prelude has on other sports coupes in the honda range the 4th gen had Cruise control, 4ws, abs, climate control, traction control, electric seats, aluminesant dash, sunroof, central locking, antenna height control, independant foglights....heaps of sound deading, nice carpet, heaters coming out the doors, lol compare to a type R,
no cruise control, no electric seats, no sunroof, no 4ws, **** and dials for the heater/ac, no allumnesant dash, no sound deadening, no climate control, no traction control,
instead type R has powerfull engine, lighweight compnents, carbon fibre, basic heater control, basic gauges, lightweight windows, lightweight body, lightweight mags, upgraded suspention.....
Prelude: sports coupe made for luxury
Type R:made for racing
dont bother with a 4ws on a CRX, that car is a baby type R hehe turns gd turns fast, dont have to worry about backing into a parking lot
the real fun about the lude is that u can have all the luxury and with its very powerfull h22a powerplant, it dusnt take much to get up to the type R's performance standard...sure we'll always be a lil heavyer...but take the JUN prelude for example...full interior 270ps... upgrade suspention, and it kicks ***

4WS was also offered in Accord in Europe. Beside Honda it was in Nissan and Mitsubishi
too.
Lately Saab has "invented" 4WS and has called it a huge car development progress

I don't think anyone's done it. You're most likely going to have to buy a 4WS unit and test fit it to your car and do all of the fab work yourself. Not to mention getting it hooked up correctly and and getting the proper rear suspension parts to get it working.....You can do it if you really want to.
