hit big rock, bent some things, need advice on structure
ok, here's the thread so I'm not chasing two at a time or repeating myself.

basically, I want advice from people who know about a car's structure especially in the case of accidents/collisions. check out the pics and tell me what you think as far as the strud brace and the brace under the radiator [maybe I can just beat it back into shape?]
thanks in advance, I need to get something done....already have the new radiator.

if you are doing this your self try removing the rad. and with the rad support on jack stands take a block of wood (2x4) and lay it in the track were the rad goes and drive down the bent area with a big!! hammer. you should find a block that is close to the thickness of the track in the support ,this should move most of the metal back down so the new rad will fit , you may have to beat the edges back in shape but it shouldn't be to hard.
there's really no room for me to whack at it. the AC condensor is in the way, I couldn't even get a hammer in there. maybe if it was on a lift, but I don't have access. I may be able to ghetto-rig it in place for a while, but would like a more permanent solution. I need to call some shops tomorrow and see what it'd cost to straighten out.
i think he has a good idea...if you had some sort of slim but lengthy (2x4) thing that you can rest on the lower rad support and then hit the crap out of it from an elevated position that would eliminate having to hammer down in the actuall area...

dammit B, what do you know, you drive a civic.
tho after talking to you earlier, you gave me a little more hope of being able to straighten this thing out. I really didn't think that metal would budge...of course, it doesn't matter anyway cuz I can't get the car up high enough.
I will try the ghetto-rig thing to get it moving, then visit a few shops and price them out. again, thanks for all the replies.
