Default The floor jack slipped and now I need help....

the "front bulk head"....

The piece that the hood latch is secured onto, and the lower front cross memeber:

The number 5 assembly...

does anyone know if that piece is replaceable at home? Or does it require body shop?

thanks..

Usually you can just replace #2, lower core support and have the rest pulled into shape.

The pieces, esp. #2 are welded on. Will need a body shop to fix it. I used a cheap gasless mig welder and it did ok.

Everything in there is fixable at home if you have a welder. Some of the stuff, like 3 6 7 and 8 they just screw to that bottom peice. But the bottom peice needs to be welded on there..

I was thinking, it would appear that the bottom piece(2) is more for the ac condensor support correct? what if I didn't fix it, will it hurt anything? But instead, just make sure everything else is in place and the hood closes and doesn't fly off etc? Just a thought...

thanks

Does your hood close but isn't flush with the fenders? As if everything shifted up? I fixed mines by shifting it (part#2) down with a prybar! After how many tries

Hahahaha...I had the same thing happen and my hood wouldn't close and everything was out of wack. It wasn't anything a rubber mallet and prybar couldn't fix though. I just tried to see where stuff had been bent and then I just bent it back.

I was lucky in the that hood was already open so #6 didn't get too messed up. mainly #7 and #2 are bent. At this point I can close my hood... but since #2 is pushed up about 1" or so, I can't strap down #7 to #2. The only bad part about this is the hood does close as tightly and it seems like it could push up a little while driving. Since #2 is pushed up so much, I can't pull it back into place. Also both #1 and #4 are bend slightly....

I guess tomorrow I will drive to the body shop. I wonder if I could make sears pay for this... I just looked at the jack again... and it seems to be messed up. I suspect the jack gave way and caused it to slip off of the jack point.

This goes to show, NEVER work with a jack alone... infact I was just in the process of putting in my jack stands.
