Whats everyone take on these ground wire kits?

 

if u really want it just make your own its a lot cheaper and will do the same, seem pointless to me, try searching to see what other ppl think

 

Pointless on a car that relatively stock, but alright if you get a decent kit for under $25.

 

they work if your car is older. on a newer car, it wont seem like anything.

I've done them on a 1993 Civic Si and a 2002 RSX-S and neither did jack ****. That's a home-made kit and a $150 HKS Circle Earth jobber. Don't do it unless you've done absolutely everything else to your engine already.

 

Completely useless, make your own for >$20.

 

I beg to differ. Making your own is all good, however electricity works in very funny yet predictable ways. Wire quality is really the key. Now if you went out and bought some 4gauge silver wire for your kit and 24K gold plated connectors and you find the best ground locations it will make a big difference. However 4ga silver wire would probably run around $100-$130 a foot. Especially with precious metal prices going up. Since we really don't need that level of conductivity for ground wires I would say a ground wire kit with a very high concentration of copper will still add hp and tq. Since copper is the next best conductor next to silver lets look at this. If I were to buy any ground wire kit, I would get it from http://www.sunautomobile.com/. All others are just wannabe kits, IMHO. Take it or leave it...

 

Most kits around here in shops are going for like $240 and install is like $100 and its a total waste of money, I dont know anyone whos actually made any decent gains from it that could justify the money spent, so I give it a

 

What a rip off... installation of 100 bucks. Anyway, in my experience, the grounding kit was only helpful when running a high wattage stereo system. If not, then the biggest gauge you would need is 8 ga. You can get that at any stereo shop, along with the ring terminals, and that should all cost you about 10-15 dollars. If you can DIY and just buy all the stuff yourself, I guess it's "worth it" because it's another mod you can add to your list.

 

YOu can get those kits cheap on ebay now along with oil catch cans also.

 

Ok obviously no one here knows too much about electricity. http://www.sunautomobile.com sells a 99% pure copper ground kit. I wont say anymore, yeah you wont get gains when running wire from radio shack or napa. But c'mon think about it. When something works, people will make knock offs. I'm personally not one to be cheap when it comes to parts I put on my car. The $ factor doesn't matter. Quality is what counts. But I mean, don't get a ground kit if all you have is an intake. I feel ground kit and digital ignition go hand in hand. As far as extracting the highest possible gains out of either component.

 

I made my own kit for my civic for under $20 with gold plated connectors. I think I spent $14 on 15 feet of 4 guage and like $5 on the connectors. I have enough 4 guage left over to do amy accord also. I needed new battery terminals so I dropped another $20 on some blingin platinum plated battery terminals. Mine would not tighten around the battery posts enough, so I always had a semi loose terminal.

What I did notice after cutting and installing my wires, the car does idle a little better and also the headlights are a little brighter.

I have a friend that spent somewhere around $250 for a actual spoon grounding kit. I about slapped him when he told me that. I basically made my kit to show him I could have the same thing for a fraction of the cost.

 

I just paid $80 for a second hand but unused HKS kit for my Integra. I don't even care if it improves my HP or torque. I bought it because I have noticed that my lights are dimmer at idle and when I step on the gas (not revving, not launchin, as if slowly pulling away from a light in traffic) they get a lot brighter. I know enough about electricity to know that means that they must be using quite a bit of power. I figure the ground kit will help.

$240+$100 = $340

I'd rather use that money for something else like intake, header, etc.

Yeah thats alot of money.

I got a kit for like $12.

after install, i felt an overall increase in throttle response and a gain of like 3hp.
not too bad for $12
