Default civic vx

yes i was wanting to know the quater mile times for a stock vx.

it's my driving but i only ran a 18.079 last nov at the track.

could that also of the power loss over time?tires are at 35 psi at the time also so guy told me to drop them to 20psi and i can run 17.5 i was to far in to eleminations for that though. you think it will drop me about a 1/2 sec?

Also i was lauching at 4g's if i use tracking bars in the front can i lauch at 6 g's?

You can launch at whatever you want, but even a good driver is going to punish the clutch at 6000rpm. Mid 17's are definately possible, but why? It's not a drag car.

I've seen a 17.4 one time, but I have to agree with Archidictus in that it's not a drag car.

the main thing is... is that i would like to see how far i can push the stock motor.. but i think i lost some thing on the hp because it has 160k on it.

compression is 150 across.

i plan on doing a timing belt and valve adjustment before the next drag's and maybe a new clutch.

<quick question>
i can push my clutch in about 5% of the way in and it will shift but i jerks because there is no room to let the clutch out easily. granted it doesn't catch until i hit that point coming up when i push the clutch pedal in all the way in.

is it the clutch slave going out?

Drag cars are generally fast. An 18 sec quarter is not fast by any measure. Period.

I'm not trying to be snooty, because it's still fun to rip down a dragstrip at any speed, but no matter how you slice it, the VX is not a straight line performer. Throw a good suspension on it and have fun at auto-x, but draggin it juse seems like a waste of time and it puts excessive abuse onto an old drivetrain.

yeah but auto-x in kansas is running from the cops. so drag racing is always a go here spring though the fall.

everyone's eg here seems to have a h22 in it though. i know the 18 sec timeslip is nothing because it's stock. but i was just seen what i can do in it before swaping out to the h22type-s allmotor/turbo not sure but i the mean time i will shoot for a high 16's stock with interior. just to have fun

im not hating but. why run something you know isnt fast. its just wasting money and hurting that motor. when i first got my vx i took the ecu out and put in a virgin p28. i dunno why but vtec hit harder and it was faster. still nothing great but it helped maybe you could try that. and change the header and exhaust. and cat. bump!

well i'm just shooting for susension i got some 900lbs springs for the back and a traction bar. maybe throw on some slicks. i'm thinking <my goals> is to get 16's out of a stock 95 HP motor. ecu wise i have a motech 4 on the way for the h22.

<quick question> will the rear suspension for a 94 integra fit a eg.

because i need a susension set up for my 900lbs springs to go on?

i heard they would.

slicks will slow you down unless you have a fast car, they slowed my 15.6/7 down to a 16.1/2. all i did was change to slicks. but what do i know im a shitty driver.

really slow you down. ok thats cool. i don't need that.

anything i can do to remain a stock engine and interior to go faster.

i like that p28 idea is that plug and play?

listen if your serious. change to a p28. it changes your vtec crossover and redline. and yes it plugs right in. take off your stock exhaust system from the header. get a z6 or y8 header then bolt up a highflow cat or a stock cat from a 92-00 civic. Then you can either buy a catback for a dx or si hatch or you can get it custom welded up from the cat or something for like 100-200 bucks. and i gurantee you'll be atleast a second lower. a vx is for fuel efficency so just remember everything thats stock is pretty much downgraded from a si hatch

if you look at the stock exhaust manifold it has a cat integrated into it, about 5-6 inches from the exhaust port. good for emissions...bad for power. if you really want to push that little motor, i suggest at least an si header, disconnect the exhaust when you race, and the p28 ecu. with my vx, i am putting on some no name header that was given to me, a p28, and a 95 si trans. but its been said before, its not an engine made for drag racing. if you blow it up beating on it, don't get upset...thats a lot of stress for that little engine.

as far as times go, i have never raced it, but my friends neon ran a 17 flat. if i get a good launch, and he gets a shitty launch i can take him.

I was reading about traction bars on here. You think if i change my bushings and get a full racing traction bar that would help on launching. I hooooop like crazy.

swap something else in there, you'll be a lot happier . But in all seriousness, you should be able to get a high or mid 17 with some practice. But i'd have to see your 60fts and mph to determine.

lowering your psi on your front tires to around 20 or so should help with wheel hop. i dont think getting traction bars will help that much cuz you arent making enough power. pretty much all you could do with the car is remove the intake, remove the exhaust header-back, lower the front tires psi, strip your interior, and practice launching/shifting.

Stop spending money on this engine... please. It's for saving gas mileage not going fast. If you want to have some fun with it build a little junkyard turbo kit for it and run like 5 psi.

How about you put one of those motors you're trying to sell into the hatch and stop even spending money to enter at the track.

Just slap on an EX/Si tranny. You will notice a difference even if your driving sucks. BTW, what was your 60' time and trap speed?

I have a VX as a project car.. at least now I know what it runs without wasting money for the track and gas just to find out what this pig can do. =P

definately

i would try this car as an autocross car due to its low weight. maybe im crazy, but i think the vx handles very well in slightly stock form (gutted rear, carpet, and headliner + 10 in sub, and amp). i would not consider myself a pro, but a decent driver.

i'm jsut messing around on this engine my celi get 40mpg's and i just want to push the limits with out spending money on the engine.

I'm just spend it on stuff that i will keep when i swap.
