Default B16a FROM HELL......please help

Ok guys, this has been a 4 month swap still in the works...motor is from a wrecked eg hatch, a first gen b16a with hydro tranny. was put in my car and 2 months later finally got it to run...hole in IM, burnt DIzyy, ect ect...you know how it is.... Heres the new problem:

ok got car running pretty decently, no VTEC, but it was running ok, drive the car home and as soon as i get home, i feel a sudden loss of power, come to find out the BELT SLIPPED..... I have no idea how this is possibly happining, new belt, new spring......WTF do you guys have any ideas how the belt could slip when all these parts are new, and only an hour before i put a new belt on tightened to specs, did timing, everything like you are soppose to......really need help thanks.

A.) did you torque everything on the timing side of the engine to Helm's specs and are you using an OEM timing belt?

B.) why doesn't VTEC work?

The timing drop due to a slipping belt would certianly explain the loss of power, and I'll be the first to say you're lucky it only jumped a tooth or two and not enough to smash all your valves into your pistons .

not silinoid, i no the vtec problem, i have code 6, im not concerned with that, i need answers on my timing belt issues......vtec isnt going to matter if the belt falls off and i destroy my valves.....

i think that somthing was not tight or to factory specs if the belt slipped -or you have a 1.8 belt

I bet you intalled the belt and did not put the right tension on it. this is usually how most people get a belt to slip. they are not setting up the tensioner in the right manner and or sequence.

I wish that were the problem, but i have installed 2 different belts all to specs......belt will be tight exactly like its soppose to be, then when i drive around town for a while and have a sudden loss of power, i look at the belt and its loose again.

Any stripped threads or something? Try some loctite on the tensioner bolt and let it cure before driving it around.

loctite is great... until you have to get something off again. Then it becomes a complete pain in the ***.

new update.....VTEC now works.....was trying to fix the wrong damn sensor....code 6 is water temp, and i was trying to fix the fan switch......DUH....apologues to whoever told me i was wrong in the first place. Did timing and took her for a spin.....Slow as a dog.......not sure whats up with that, but the belt has not slipped thus far.....also changed the dizzy......not sure how that would effect the belt slipping but im not going to complain...more ideas on y its slow would be appreciated, ECU is a chipped p30 runnin a VISION program.

did a compression test about a week ago, had 220 all cylinders...but my intake cam gear was advanced 10 degres (to get it to start) so my buddy said that would effect it...doing another test tonight on stock timing, will post results after. thanks for the reply.....will also try another ECU and see what happens.

First off, you waste my time, by saying something like this, if you have no technical advice then do not post. And secondly, my buddy and I have done dozens of b,d,h series swaps, so not exactly a backyard swap..........

If you don't do it yourself, then I dont <U>WANT</U> to know how much you pay to have your swaps done. DIY is the best. It's going to break sometime, and then you also know how to fix it.

well seeing that u were advanced so much with the cam gears yo chould maybe have some bent intake or exhaust valves that gives alot of power loss but the compression is ok so maybe not, or the tensioner puelly is is bad or the bolt is coming loose
