Reading owns you, it has no flanges on it.

Yes now thinking about that, that is true. But how do I figure out which way this cat goes ? I forgot the real name of it, but what side is the little tube usually coming out on ? And which way is it suppose to point, I thought it was suppose to be on the driver side facing the engine.

From what I've seen you're correct. They point forward.....and on driver side. I'm wondering what those air tubes are really for....

Think next time before you reply.
I think it would go one way as well, but not 100% sure.
Anyone have pics to post?

From what I understand an air pump can be hooked up to it so you can pump freash air into your exhaust. Does anyone else know what way it goes for sure ? Any pics would be great.

darker side is from the engine to cat. Lighter side of the comb is where the gas leaves and exits out of the exhaust. Does that help?

No because last I looked the cat was pretty dirty on both sides, its been used before.

the tube is an air inlet tube as stated previously. not sure of actual placement but mine was installed withe the tube facing foward on the driver's side. i doubt it would matter since a cat is onlya metal composite screen that reacts with exhaust gasses to reduce the pollutants. i would just install it how the other post mentioned. tube forward on drivers side.

That is the air injection tube, and it's used for emissions, to attach an air pump to. Basically legal cheating on emissions by a manufacturer.

, anyways I am gonna install it that way because thats the way I thought it went and everyone else is confirming it. Thanks

I don't think that it makes any difference which way you mount it.
However, I was in much the same situation with the aftermarket one I bought and mounted it so that the air injection tube (capped off) points forward. The thought being that if it was going into a car that had an air pipe, it wouldn't make sense to have it pointing rearward (the hook-up pipe would have to be longer).

I beg to differ:

Without the NOx being reduced to nitrogen and oxygen in the reduction, the oxidation stage won't have enough oxygen to react with the carbon monixide to for carbon dioxide.

I just learned something about that in class. The 3 way cats have the NoX reducing stuff come first, rather than last like they used to. I wasnt really paying attention as u can tell...lol
