1998 gsr need some feedback......
Hey guys I looking at buying a 98 integra gsr, black, stock, original owner (35 year old doctor). Car has 87k on it and has been in one minor accident but was professionally fixed. Car is clean inside and out for a 98.
Issues
-The car is originally from Michigan,I am in socal, snow=rust, I didn’t check the bottom but inside the hood the radiator brackets and miscellanous bolts are rusted.
-The car has Michigan plates, will this be a problem for registration?
- Maintenance isn’t perfect, I don’t believe it has had a tranny fluid change, original timing belt/water pump, clutch has been changed and oil changes done.
-The car has its original brakes all around and they are vibrating and need replacing. Also the abs light was on some of the time I drove it, the seller says a mechanic thinks it a sensor problem?
-When I got into high rpms at like 6k and up the parking brake light would go on until I shifted?
I asked the seller if he would take it to my mechanic for an inspection and he stated that he was busy and had an offer of 8600 and would rather just take that since he does not have time.
Overall the car pulled strong and went through the gears smoothly.
I just want some feedback on the issues of the car and what a fair price is, also should I be worried that he doesn’t want to take it to my mechanic.
KBB in good condition is 7500 and Edmunds shows 8700.
I would really appreciate it if someone could run a carfax, the vin is JH4DC2383WS001600
Thanks in advance for all the help.

look in GDD, I think there are a few guys w/ carfax accounts...I don't think that car is worth over 8k either. I wouldn't pay more than 7k.
If he won't take it to the mechanic then there is something he's hiding, b/c a seller that has nothing to hide should jump at the chance to take it to a mechanic so that he can prove that it's good and get it sold.
Don't listen to sellers when they say they have another offer. Tell him to go take his other offer if he won't take it to a mechanic, b/c you won't buy the car w/o it being checked.
You should have no problem registering it, even w/ out of state plates.

Registration is no problem. I think it needs to pass smog. I'd stick to a GSR locally, unless you can fly out to MI and inspect the car.
sounds like the price is too high ...... the abs light can be low brake fluid or like he said a wheel sensor .... the brake light coming on before shifting usually means rake fluid is low i would say this car is worth 7000 if the paint is good
the regestration will be no problem all you need is a smog and then take it for a vin verification ... as simple as that

Thanks for your help guys, I also think he is lying about the offer but demand in socal is quite high for gsrs especially unmolested ones. I will offer him 7 on monday and see what happens.
