PCV Broken | Idle Probs | Running Hot
When I first put the b16a1 engine in the car I put a little breather filter on the valve cover. And ran the PCV directly off the Intake Manifold.
Problem was I broke the PCV in half. But I didnt know what it was at the time, so i put the hose on what was left of it. The car seemed fine so I called it a day.
Since its been getting pretty cold here the car idles really low for the first 2 minutes, then its fine after that.
Also once its warm, the temp fluctuates from about 1/2 way to beyond 3/4, then back down to 1/2 way when the car idles. SO its getting to hot when it revs. This is very bad because its cold here, in the summer id blow this thing up
Is it possible a semi-clogged cat could cause the headers/downpipe to get way too hot, and does the PCV affect engine temp in anyway? Im still runnning a semi stock DX exhaust on this thing....
Im rather sure the PCV is my idle problem, because the hose was totally flat one day, and i noticed it when the engine was running. Im replacing that tomorrow.
Would new O2 sensors be nessesary to help this High temp problem? And has anyone ever ran a setup with no PCV, or a broken one and ran hot because of it?
Lastly, what can I do to improve my cooling system, because its inadequate:
new water pump
new radiator
prestone 50/50
Since this final drive is a piece of **** on the Y1 im at 3600 or more all the way to work in the morning, so ive got to get this thing runnung cooler, i want it to last me.
sorry about the novel, some input please
