if u had the money...
just picked up a '89 hatch, the damn thing is fun and has a ton of nutz for being a small engine... i can consistantly get the tires to burn shifting from 1st-2nd
(and it's got 178k on original enginr and trans) but like the rest of u out there i'm already looking to UPgrade and my thoughts were a b18c5 bored and sleeved to a 2.2L dohc vtec with ported/polished heads, oh and maybe 1 or 2 turbos... i just need to know what's going to be the best parts for the cash and how far down the road i should plan for this to finally go in ? PLZ help i have no clue how to power up the "ricer." lol i have 2 ford V8's sitting in my drive, 306t5 stang (<--- wife's) and a 351Wa4od bronco (<--- slooooow)
thanks for the help 8D

the part about the type-r bored, your looking at over 10k to get it in the car as you described, before you boost.
unless you doing all the work yourself, you could save some money.
let me ask you this: have you ever ridden in a hatch with a type-r stock? they are very fun as is.

its the first on that page. so thats 5k to get it to your door. youd still need mounts and a ton of parts would need replacing on that motor before you would install it.
also theres a lot of people who would tell you the vtec mottors are not the best candidates for boost with such high compression. hell there are even crazy people that would tell you keep the enigne you have, rebuild it the right way with a nice cam and some comp pistons and boost that, its lighter anyway.
reguardless what you decide, know this:
magazines make everything sound easy, always over estimate the cost of things cause **** will come up.
also if fabrication is your thing and your really dying for boost, theres:
http://www.homemadeturbo.com/
and, also, search with the "archive" dot choosen. not recent topics since they only last 2 weeks before going archive. pretty much all the good stuff is there.
enjoy your EF

My plan would be an A6 block w/ aftermarket pistons 10:5:1 c/r pistons .05 over, rods, sleeves, a z6 head w/ mild port work, y8 IM, B series TB, everything portmatched, and a cutom turbo setup running 10-15 lbs of boost. That would be fun w/ a custom crx/zc tranny.
