Default AEM Pullies Kill Battery?

Couple of people say that the aem pullies kill your battery, is this true and if so why would AEM continue to make a product that cuts your battery life considerably, Anyone have any personal experience with them?

if you put pulleys on and run a large stereo system or a lot of electronics then yes you may see isues.
i run an unorthodox pulley on my race car and the battery is fine, but voltage at idle is just barely over 12volts, and doesnt get over 13.4 ever, while the stock pulley would get to 14.4.

Not to mention that you obviously aren't that concerned about speed, so why spend a couple hundred to free up a HP or two?

i had it on my fifth gen, the alternator wasn't producing enough current at idle to where it was draining straight at my battery

if that was happeneing you probably had a weak alternator then, and it needed to be replaced.

cuz no one gives a **** about shorter battery life when there is HP to be gained.

btw....why not instead of draining only the battery get a freaking capacitor. If you have a system, get one, a TV, get one, a PS2 get one, i mean...it is just the smart thing to do.

or get another battery, or a better one, plus a better alternator.

No the OEM pulley is designed to run at twice the speed of the crank but with the larger AEM pulley this aint happening bud. Thats why the pulley kills ur battery
