CEL passed diagnostic test, why?
I've had this check engine light come on for the last two weeks every time I start the engine. It comes on a few seconds after start. I took it to two different autozones and both times the test reads the ecu and reports "passed" with no codes. What could this be?
It comes on during priming pulse and off at end prime pulse. But that's normal. It comes on about 3-5 seconds after engine start every time.
I don't know off hand what ecu it has but it's a 2000 civic with d16y7 engine and manual transmission. E5 or something.
I just got a haynes manual with codes and I jumped the service connect wires. I didn't get it to blink until I started the engine. I bet that's why they didn't get a code at autozone. It blinked out 65, secondary heated O2 sensor heater circuit fault. (Sensor 2) Well that makes sense. I have replaced the primary O2. I have turbo and no cat. I just put the secondary sensor 2' down the down pipe from the primary and haven't had a problem until now. Maybe I should make a simulator?
The moral of the story is, start the car to get codes that don't show up otherwise.

It is supposed to do this, its a self test....and its the way most small shops know that you don't just have your CEL bulb taken out
