89 Prelude - Shifter Stiff when changing gears--any ideas
Hi all,I have an 89 Prelude S -- it is a workhorse, love this car--although it is a bit too small for me at 6'3 230lbs. But I digress--It seems to idle quite high, and when I shift into reverse I get a bit of a grind. When I am driving, its is somewhat stiff when shifting gears. Any ideas on how to remedy the situation?
for the tranny issues. I would
(1) change tranny oil
(2) grease shifter linkage. DO this by removing the boot off your shifter and taking a looksy.
for the engine. Higher than normal idle, if you are not mechanically inclined, i suggest taking it to a shop for diagnosis.

funny, I had the same problem when I bought my 92 Si from my wife's friend. she took care of it really well from a visual perspective. i just took it down to my local dealership, had a cheap tranny service done and it was like conditioner after that - silky, and smooooth.
