rsr gt2 exhaust
rsrgt2 exhaust
anyone know anything about these exhausts for ef-hatches? do they have an annoying loud sound? anyone have anymore pics of this thing? i really wish it came out angled because i love the way the tip looks because it resembles the invidia tip for the crx....i cant decide between the invidia for the hatch, the invidia for the crx-i was going to mod it to fit my hatch-, or the rsr
i pretty much want an exhaust thats not quiet, but not loud either, and sounds well with my b16 with goodies, and doesnt look like the apex-ws, or greddy sp, these exhaust are just too quiet.....post some opinions and rants etc...

or
car doesnt seem to low, and iam on neuspeed race springs and tokico blues, i dont wanna get this thing and have it dragging the ground haha
here is the invidia exhaust made for an ef hatch-its just like the rsr ex mag and its too quiet, its also just like the apex w-s and the greddy sp, i kinda want something a little bit more, but not too much

here is the best looking ef exhaust in my opinion, its the invidia exhaust for the crx, it will not fit a hatch like this stock- after doing research on this i think you have to lengthen it by 7 inches in the middle for it to fit properly

and here is the invidia for the crx modified to fit a hatch, it looks perfect, flush with the bumper and everything

so thats my thread haha i hope you guys like it, everyone contribute some stuff, i cant make up my mind on anything haha

It sounds like you know what you want already.
I don't know if that first picture is correct. Why would an exhaust company make a product for a specific car then have the exit point on the wrong side of the vehicle? It could be an attempt to reduce bends in the piping, but it looks goofy.
Have you considered making your own/getting a custom exhaust made? You would be able to pick and choose what parts you want and what style. This would be at a fraction of the cost.

yea i just can't decide from those three choices haha
umm read thier website, they try to make it as straight as possible for the best "air flow" or whatever
most custom exhaust sound like fart cans, and i hate that, i want a smooth sound, nice looking exhaust, i was actually thinking about getting the rsrgt2 rear section off of their site, or trying to find an invidia rear section from an ef and make 2.25 piping from the header back
haha living in tennessee is awesome, never get pulled over for being loud, and i live in a town outside of memphis so i dont have to go to the smog ref...so you gotta throw that into consideration too, rednecks here dont care for **** haha, we have all the crazy v-8's running around so exhaust and smog ref **** will never matter in tenn.

It is understandable that they are trying to have as little back pressure as possible, but it still looks out of place in my eye.
If you use bad parts and/or have crappy craftmenship, then your custom exhaust will sound like "fart cans". Have you looked through the exhaust section at http://www.kteller.com (I believe that's that correct site)? The piping kits are made specifically for your car, and they have every piece you need to assemble your own exhaust. It will cost hundreds of dollars less, and your exhaust will be made by you. Nothing says cool better than custom work.

yea my friends use kteller for their turbo set-ups,i actually might do that, but i dunno yet......iam still deciding haha

true but these dont have that fart canister sound, and they look clean when you mount them where they dont stick out from the bumper, just look at the pic of the white hatch with the invidia, it looks nice, and ive heard a sound clip of them on a crx and they sound great!

When i was in the market for exhausts i narrowed it down to two. Well only two actually
Greddy SP 2 ( 540? ) and RSR Ex Mag GT3 ( 575 ). The shop i got my Greddy from lowered it to $450 because the month i got it on was my b-day and i had told them my brother got me the same exhaust i chose so the owner reluctantly lowered the price.
Anyway those are the only ones i know of that are quiet. The tip is 2.36". Its deep, smooth sounding. Kind of like a bumble bee inside a can but its nice. It sounded different from the first time i bought it. I guess it had to be 'broken' in?
Little did i know, that when you swap a motor this exhaust will actually be louder than the way it was before. Is there any truth to that? I hope my brother is wrong. This is the reason why i chose it. I have mixed feeling s about the curled lip before but it's grown on me. I like the fact that the Greddy logo is laser etched
I chose Greddy because it was cheaper in price but not quality. It's been said that those with previous SP's crapped out because guys have been using NAAAWWWWWS on it and have been boosting. This one on the other hand, is built better. In addition, it is full stainless steel. RSR is also stainless steel but it's powder coated. As for performance and sound, i have no clue.
As for invidia exhaust, one of the guys at that shop i got the exhaust from said invidia sucks. That they're closing down or some crap like that. I don't know. I've no experience with it much less know anyone who has it. So, i can't really say anything of it.

My original Greddy SP did not change tone at all when i went from sohc zc to b series. On my car, the majority of the sound u hear is from the motor. I want the SP2 for the full stainless piping. Mine is starting to have some very light surface rust here and there, but thats nothing major. I dont know about the curled lip on the tip either...i wish it didnt have it.

The Invidia on the hatch above, the one that you are saying is the Invidia for the CRX modded to fit the hatch, is actually just an Invidia (or Skunk2) muffler attatched to custom piping - I believe I remember hearing that from the original owner of that hatch.
If you want to get a smoother sound out of it, get an 18" resonator and that should take care of it.

i know, ive talked to the owner of the car a couple times about it, i think iam probably gonna get a kteller test pipe with kteller 2.25 piping, then get a rear muffler and just get a muffler shop to weld it together...kteller has the es oval, and hks hi power mufflers available and thats it, anyone got pics of these?
i searched and found alot about the es oval, but no pics on an ef hatch....phan has some sound clips but i cant ******* pm anyone, can someone ask phan to post the sound clips of his es oval in this thread for me?

on 2nd thought, all this making my own exhaust is too ******* hard, its not that its hard, its just annoying trying to piece everything together, i guess iam gonna get a kteller test pipe, with my 4-1 header, and then decide on an exhaust, i just want something that has alot of power gains, but doesnt have an annoying sound- i dont really give a **** what it looks like anymore haha, just as long as the gains are good after tuning and everything, not too restrictive etc....
does anyone have any dyno sheets of certain exhaust setups on a b16? it doesnt matter if the motor is stock or not, i just get the feeling that if i get an apex-ws, a greddy sp,mx, or an es oval that its gonna hurt my performance, i want something that has the most performance for my b16 and the stuff going on it in the future, aebs intake manifold,4-1 header, intake, skunk2 stage 1's,valve springs, retainers, port n polish head, oversized valves, and some other stuff........
please read this post and help me out!!!

The bottom line is if you have anything straight pipe coming from the header to a muffler. It will be a raspy, bumble-bee tin can sound. You will need a large resonator (preferably 18"+) before it gets to the muffler. Why does it change the sound? The resonators job is to change the harmonics of the sound. So, you want a loud, deeep bassy sound...you will want a 22" resonator attached. If you've researched, you'll know that resonators will actually take away horsepower (N/A .. 1-2 hp? depending on ur setup I'm not sure. Turbo...well anything not straight pipe will rob power) It's up to you though. The kteller exhaust sytems are great stuff for the cash and the company is very reputable. Pretty much everything out there has its pros and cons..but when it comes down to it. I think making a custom exhaust is the best bang for your buck. Mufflers + resonator + Custom mendrel bent piping = good stuff

Get a long resonator and fit it upstream, then some good muffler, can or not. I like those you posted up man.
HKS yes, Mugen no. Honestly man, you're talkin about a 10+ yr old muffler. Good gosh, even if i had the money, I'd go a diff. route.
thanks crx-fluffy and b16 madman.....
i still havent decided i guess iam gonna go with an rsr ex mag or a custom exhaust i dunno yet though, but thanks for putting your input in guys....

anything that has "robert's b16 crx" in the title is me. setup = dc gsr 4-2-1 header, header back 2.25'' piping, es oval muffler (no cat, no resonator). i really liked the sound of it, as ricey/bumble bee like as it was, and must say it wasn't horribly loud until i really got on it.
