skunk2 coilovers question
well its definetely winter time in MA, so how do i raise my car up if it has skunk2 coilovers, is there a special kit i need, or can i just do it with a wrench? any help appreciated, and of course flamers welcome! haha i suck! thx to the honest ones who help!
u should have a tool that comes with the kit to raise and lower it. but if u dont have one then u can just use a screw driver and ur hands. using a flat head screw driver, place it on one of the spaces on the lower spacer on the coil over (there should be two spacer look n things on the bottom of the springs). then using a hammer, hit the end of a screw driver so that it loosens it. (u wanna hit it so that the spacer/ perch moves to the left) this method is used if the lower spacer or perch is frozen and wont turn if u tried to turn it with ur hands. so with this loose, turn it with ur hands to loosen it a bit more. now that u have some room to work with, turn the top spacer or perch with ur hands so that it raises the spring. (turn n to the right should do this)
this is the method of do n it if u dont have the coil tool

You could order a new spanner wrench from Skunk2, or you could see if anyone is selling them in the classifieds. I bought a set of Koni coilovers without the spanner wrenches, rather than make it difficult, I just called Koni and got a new one sent to me.
The tool that comes with it really doesn't make the job any easier. You should be able to move the rings w/ your hands, and if you can't then the skunk2 tool won't work either. In that case, a screwdriver and hammer is the way to go.

Pretty much, just jack the car up and take off the wheels if you have to and go from there.

okay, i jacked up the car, and used the screwdriver/hammer method, turned the bottom spacer ring to the left, its pretty stubborn and hard to move tho with my hands, can i use something like wd-40 to lubricate it or is that a bad idea? also, the top spacer ring, to raise the car, should go to the right, correct? at a certain point then, you would be compressing the spring, which is really hard to do with my hands, how do i get around that? does anyone know what im talking about?
yea u can spray it with WD40 to loosen it up a bit. u can use the screw driver method to keep turn n the top one to the right if it's really tough to turn but if u start to damage the perch by hitting it, then stop. use ur hands first, it should turn with some elbow grease put into it. or have one of ur strong friends turn it for u
yeah, they're tough to turn sometimes. the first time I tried to adjust my suspension I tore up my hands, as long as you're not damaging the perch w/ the screwdriver and hammer then it's fine. otherwise try to use your hands or some sort of other tool that doesn't damage it.
