distributor ticking

Default distributor ticking

my jdm distributor is starting to tick and my vtec isnt engage. what is causing this ticking noise.

a ticking dist? never heard that before...i dont know take out the dist cap and look for unusual this...make sure the rotor is tight.

you blew your distributor it sounds like the bearings are shot in it i blew my distributor in my 93 prelude it cost about 225 rebuilt and there easy to change.

i took the distributor out today and turned the shaft with my hands. as i would turn it it would make a squeky noise each time.

i would go ahead and change it and like burnheimer said they're not that hard to change either. then get your timing adjusted to

umm would this cause for a popping affect because of this bad distributor... when it hits 5k its starts to pop and there is no vtec....

yeah a ticking dizzy is a pretty good indication that your dizzy bearings are goin out. (at least in my expeirence had 3 diffrent ones to this.)

Possibly. I haven't run across that problem but it will affect your timing so its possible that it affects your VTEC engagement as well.

just ordered a distributor from distributor king hopefully this solves the problem

it should if it had play in the shaft.
