Default CEL: Code 9(nine) thread Pt. 2

I thought i had this licked the other day when i unplugged my ECU and plugged it back in and the CEL had gone away.

On my way to school it came back again.

Disheartening to say the least.

The car still runs reasonably well, VTEC still exists, and i've checked the wiring and it's fine. ~350 ohms resistance on the connector inside the engine bay, everything is plugged in as it should be.

I've replaced the distributor recently, with a brand new unit from Dist. King, so that eliminates the dist. as the source of the problem. The wiring seems to check out as well. Meaning that there could be ECU issues?

As usual, any help, insight, crazy ideas on what's going on would be very much appreciated. The more i think about it, the more it makes sense to me, since that's just about the only thing it could be--but does it make sense for the ECU to trip out in only that respect? The ECU's been connected to a VAFC I via PnP harness, maybe the VAFC had something to do with it (sold for unrelated reasons)?

ECU gurus help a brotha out, and if anyone has a spare 5th gen OBDII ecu lying around in the SoCal area pm me. thx.

Have you tried to check for continuity from the dist. harness to the ECU harness? There might be a break in the wire.

Also, I've heard the teg ECU's run to lean for our H22's.
