Default FS: 2000 B16 SI tranny with OBX LSD

I bought this tranny from a friend with the differential going out so i put in a OBX LSD with all new bearings. Tranny works perfectly with no grinds, its currently just sitting in my garage as i've re-evaluated things and I found that the b16 tranny has too short of gears for me.

900 takes it. Just dropped over 500 to get all the new bearings and the LSD put in, so i can't lose too much on the deal.

Not too sure about those OBX lsds, yet. You might be pressed to sell this one. Good luck though

so true,

well i might just put it in the car and make a few passes. If i can show the tranny can handle some 7k rpm clutch drops with 24in slicks and run some good times, it might help.

I just started to realize, that b16 gearing probably won't be that much help, but i'm probably going to build my head this winter, so I guess if i can rev to 9200, then i might not have to shift out of 4th gear.

there are is a guy in the 10s with his OBX LSD, so if it works on a 600whp car, should work on others. Its a beefy unit.

i might consider a ITR tranny, i'd just turn around and sell it for cash.

I have a GSR tranny and I plan on keeping it, just putting a LSD into it.

as for doubting the 10sec pass on this diff, check out user: 99Hybrid_Hatch. look at his post in the FI forum. He put up a video of going into the 10s, with over 600whp on an OBX LSD in a b16 tranny.

if no one takes it, i'll just drop it into the car. I just know i love the gearing of the GSR, so the b16 will probably be too short, but i bought my valvetrain this week, so I will be able to go up to 9800rpms now without a problem.

i guess you guys havnt seem the numerous threads that are 10+ pages just on the obx lsd....
its identicle to the quaife in everyway, build quality and machining aren't as good, there are many people on the forum running them will no reports of failure.

i wouldn't really see a point in that, since it would be a tranny without a differential. The stock differential died due to 7k rpm launches on slicks.

I thought OBX was all trash!!!!!!!!!! Thank you guys for letting me know other wise. Good luck with an OBX product. I used to me a distributor for them but 36% of items that came from them were defects so I decided to drop them. Good to hear they are making a turn around.
Good luck with your sell.

interesting. So do you need a good GSR transmission or do you already have one? If you needed one. we could work out a trade of sorts...

I have one, but we could still work out a trade of some sorts.

Just let me know.
