i recently got pulled due to my tint being too dark. it was at 13% - legal limits in mn is 43%. anyways, they didn't tag me but suggested i have it redone. my car came like that so i never had to take it in for that so i was wondering how much would this probably run me and where? i'm not even considering doing it myself because it's cold out and i've seen some of the "home" tints out there. ugly! anyways, let me know guys.

 

Look to spend around $100-125

 

It can vary depending on the shops around you. look to spend from 100-200. Obviously it will be more if they are stripping the old tint as well.

 

thats not bad at all. is that with all windows except the windshield? i was looking into ziebart awhile ago and i think they quoted me over 200 but thats without having to removing the old tint so i'm assuming more.

 

in socal, I spent $150 for 5 windows and lifetime warranty. Good quality tint too. llumar brand. Just don't be insane and go for the 15/5 combo I did. Of course, in cali, under 70 counting the glass is illegal, so anything at all thats not "clear". I think most windows are around 82 with nothing on them, so adding 90% clear tint is already getting close to illegal in cali.

If the limit is 43, then remember that the glass isn't 100 without any tint, so a 50 plus glass might already be too dark. Do inspections in your area actually check, or is it just the cops "testing" by looking at it? If they eyeball it, then I'd go 35/15. The darker back makes the front look lighter. If they actually check, then you should call a few tint shops and see what they say will pass the inspection. Different brands of 50% tint will show up differently with the light meters too.

50 is considered "light" tint
35 is "medium"
15 is "dark"
5 is limo

thanks for bring that up. i'd always thought the glass itself was considered 100%. yes, they actually used some kind of meter that has a slot that slips over the glass being checked. weather daylight has anything to do with the reading but mine was checked at night, thats how they came up with 13%. anyways, i will be sure to make sure it will pass the next time when i redo my tints.

 

paid $140 for all windows but the windshield. it was 35% i believe and I like it. not to dark but not light. gl

 

i paid 175 with the strip on the windshield....I got 12% on the back and corners and 22% on the sides, looks nice and i haven't been harrassed yet.

 

Dam, where in PA are you guys? Im just south of Philly and everyplace around here gives me quotes over $200, thats not including the windshield banner. (For a 2 door)

 

got mine done in camp hill(10 miles south of harrisburg) at a place called creativecar-tunes. i know the guys so they gave me a deal. its usually 170 for all windows with the strip

 

quoted $240 for '95 accord 4 door (all windows), standard black tint + lifetime warranty...sucks.

 

120 for 5 windows. then 10 bux to take it off when cops roll u for illegal tint =\
