you mean illuminas on ebay, right?

I've always thought the blues were the "HP" model.

Are you trying to improve your shock performance?
Tokico blues are basically going to give you stock shock performance.
If you are just looking for a stock replacement then you might as well get the cheapest shock you can find from your local auto parts store.

If you have upgraded suspension then Tokico Blues SUCK.

Sounds a little high. Those shocks were OKAY with my ground control coilovers. I like my koni yellows much better =]

It amuses me that a "performance shop" is selling Tokico HPs.

Forget this performance shop crap, unless you enjoy being ripped off for a product that won't be suitable for your needs and that you will be unsatisfied with.

Find an internet dealer with a good deal on Tokico Illuminas. Or even better, Koni Sports.

What are you looking for, anyway? Looks? Ride quality? Performance? Cost? Keep in mind that you can't have it all . . . so what is the most and least important to you?

Im looking to spend 200 to 250, I dont race, i like a low ride with good handling, somewhat smooth. If someone could point me in the right direction to buy some i would really appreciate it. Or if you know a shop in the DFW area that wont try to rape me. I have Eiback Pro-kit springs, and autozone shocks that are very shitty. And the driver side rear shock is blown so my brand new ecstas are getting messed up every time i drive.

Tokico Illuminas can be had on eBay for $365 shipped. KYB AGX can be had for $300 shipped. Both are more than enough for Eibach Pro Kit's soft spring rates.

I don't know, I can't complain about the Tokico's I use to run...Picked them up at inlinefour.com for about 250 if I remember right.

If you are getting that type of shock, I'd suggest KYB GR2's. You can usually find either HP's or GR2's on ebay for around $220 shipped.

at inlinefour.com the AGX costs upward of 400 bucks as do the illuminas, but the blues and GR2's are within my range... Which one of these would be a better choice that WONT raise the height of my ride too much?

That's because inlinefour.com will gouge you with the pricing on everything they sell.

I already listed the eBay prices for you. AGX can be had for $300 shipped.

None of them will raise your ride height, since they are all the same length as stock dampers and have the spring perch placed in roughly the same position as stock.

alright i found illuminas on ebay for 330, im probably gonna go with those. Although my friend told me he loved his agx's, i cant find any that are for a 88 model. They use a different part number for the rear.

So just because your tokico shocks blew up ,that means all of them are gonna blow in a couple of years, I don't think so.

They range from 100 to 150 depending on where you look.

Mine is lowered and the ride is rough.

I do, after 1.2 years mine blew and trying to get ahold of tokico to take care of the warranty is like trying to suck cold molasses through a straw. I finally gave up and just bought another shock. If another blows I will be replacing all 4 with something other than tokico.

I have Tokico Blues on Nuespeed Sports (2" drop front and 1.8 rear) and they ride isn't rough, it's actually not rough enough, the shocks aren't stiff enough for the spring. I have never hit the bump stops though.

If I had to do it over again I would get the same springs (for a daily driver) with Illuminas or AGX's. Maybe Koni's but it seems that it's hard to find Koni yellows for the price of AGX's and Illuminas... I'm NOT talking about buying used shocks, I'm talking new.

Well maybe they had a bad batch or something, I have had mine for over 2 years and have not had issues with them. I have a 2.5 drop all the way around and I can feel every bump I hit, its a bumpy ride.

That has a lot more to do with the springs than with the dampers . . .

"Bad batch"? That's rather funny. Never heard that excuse for blown shocks before.

Tell me, do you know what an under-damped suspension feels like? What are your spring rates?
