11.8" brake upgrade? possible?
before i came back all jet lagged from a quick trip overseas, i seem to remember reading that someone was trolling for interest in seeing whether a 11.8" brake upgrade for the ITR would be welcome. i seem to remember it using RL calipers and rotors possibly? this was about 2 weeks ago that i read the post ehre. i come back, do a quick search, and find nothing ... ? was i hallucinating again? does someone else remember a post about that? i think it was about the same time frame as the "cheaper muegn AG brakes" where the poster was getting some heat because he thought that you could use any old rotor and it would be the same as the vaned AG rotor ... thanks ...
actually, it was this https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1010481 one i was looking for. found it after going thru my history .... and i was wrong, 11.6"
Actually, I was wrong... It is 11.8" I just messed up in the title and cant change it...
It works. Caliper spacing is perfect with stainless spacers from Mcmaster.com
I've just been too busy to finish the write up...
I did take pictures, but it's really easy to do.
Parts required are:
-1999-up RL Calipers and brackets. Also need the longer RL caliper bolts.
-1999 and up RL discs (24$ each at Napa)
-17-7 Stainless steel washers from Mcmaster- I have the part number at home, but they are 1/2" hole and about 5.75 for five washers.
-4 oem honda crush washers
-brake fluid.
You basically have to unbolt the old calipers and discs, trim the brake sheilds, and bolt the new calipers and discs on putting the spacers in between the caliper brackets and the knuckles.
I'm pretty sure 16" wheels are needed (I am using rsx wheels and they are perfect) Maybe some wacky offset 15's would work but I don't know.

What spacers are you referring to? Are they the stainless steel washers in your parts list?
(Also, are the crush washers for the brake lines? I haven't taken one off before)

good question i'll try to look. The calipers themselves are beefier that the R's. Plus, these calipers were designed to stop a MUCH heavier car. If there is a difference in piston size, it was not striking.
Finally, if people want, they could use legend GS twin piston calipers on the RL brackets.
I've now uploaded more pictures on my post.
