Default 2004 TL Brembo Brakes on ITR

Well these brakes aren't available for purchase, YET! They might not be.

But the mounting brackets are identical to a Type R's knuckle. Rotors are a bit larger too. You'll just need some bigger wheels.

I can't find a pic, go to your dealer lazy bums!

Just buy a TL.
Took the O4 for a spin. Pretty tight car for such big sedan, even with all season tires Autostick isn't so bad. Good lazy businessman trans which feels like Playstation.

Better yet... take one out for a test drive and remove the front brakes. Take it back and tell them you like it but the brakes don't work right.

The Rotors are 12" I believe and they bolt up on an ITR no problem. The only problem is clearance with the wheels. The calipers are 4-pot and makes my Spoonies look like mini-me side by side.

I stand corrected. That's even bigger.

Are we talking 16" wheels or 17" wheels or *gulp* 18"? This could be interesting

Jeez... Can't wait for someone to try this! Hopefully it will fit under a 16" rim.

If it will fit under a 16 inch rim, I will probably be able to have the conversion done by Christmas. If anybody see's an '04 TL in a junkyard, let me know ASAP.

Should fit under a 16" wheel. Just prolly will have to watch the offset. I cannot wait to see someone do this.

I guess I just don't get it.

The ITR braking system is arguably the 'best' package HONDA has ever made and guys CAN'T leave well-enough alone.

No flame intended... but, there is so much talk here on how to upgrade the ITR brakes. WHY?????????

IMHO- Total BLING mod. (save your money)

John- who made 90% of his passes this weekend in the braking zones using his stock ITR brakes.

John - your'e 100% right - I love my stock brakes (and probably wouldn't ever upgrade them) but the fact that this is a potential bolt on application of Brembo brakes from Honda is kindof interesting, don't you think?

<== can't wait to see an ITR with a TL Brembo brake swap

Yeah, George I know your right.

I just hate to see guys waste so much time, money and effort and maybe make their brakes worse.

I won't argue the 'NSX calipers' or new "super-duper 04 TL" points again.

Waste of time.

PS- Had a great weekend at Summit. It proves the ECHC can fight HARD and still be great friends!

Have a good winter.

Maybe you should ask Realtime why even tho they won the Championship with the stock brakes, they still upgraded to Brembo BBK on the following year..... :dunno:

Not that I agree with using the new TL brakes on the ITR because of the possible need of 17" wheels, I just don't see that the stock ITR brake is something so perfect that CAN'T be improved upon.

For all the race Hondas I've seen in Europe or Asia, when the rules permit, ALL of them have their brakes upgraded to a multipiston unit.

Nothing is inherently wrong with ITR brakes. But there are upgrades out there. If it's cheap (not that I forsee the TL upgrade being "cheap") and doesn't mess up the f/r bias, why not upgrade?

It's great that the stock ITR brakes are working for you. But I have to ask, how much does your hatchback weigh now compared to a "street/track" ITR? Would weight make a difference in actual braking effectiveness? And what's wrong with wanting a bit more heat disappation capacity?

Kyle - who believes "to each his/her own" and the world doesn't revolve around 15x7+ wheels and stock braking systems.

EDIT: I just read you are in a hatch, what does it weigh?

All I can think of is that you are

#1 You are on a short track with low speed straights,
#2 You are running short sprint races and bleeding the fluid after every race.

The stock ITR system is awesome on the street, autocross and light track duty.

Any serious track time and they will start to fade, even with pads, lines, fluid, removed backing shield, brake ducts and a lighter than stock ITR(ask me how I know).

I switch to NSX calipers and (28mm vs stock ITR 23mm) Legend rotors. Improved braking? IMO no, Better resistance to brake fade? Yes,

I have since upgraded to a Fastbrakes/Wilwood set-up to reduce the weight on the front wheels (lost 23lbs from the front wheels)

Bling only? NO, Bling for most, Yes

Okay, I'll play.

SCCA Pro-Racing (Asia, Europe etc.) is FAR, FAR, FAR from HPDE's and Honda-Challenge. For 'real world guys' (non-RTR Pro drivers) they will almost never need additional braking force that the ITR can not ALREADY provide.

And if I may be so bold...... if someone runs out of brakes with an ITR (or hatchcrap) there are already problems. Driver problems.

#1. They are slow and using them too much.
#2. Using the wrong pad.
#3. No ducting.

Sorry, the ITR stuff is off the shelf, cheap, reliable and proven... 99% of weekend guys will never have a problem if properly set-up. Try running to Pep Boys looking for a caliper for a Wilwood kit in no-where Virginia. I bet they'll have the ITR stuff.

My H1 hatchcrap is 2344 with me.

Jason Franza's H2 ITR is around 2600ish, and I mean NO ONE brakes any deeper than the Franzenator. H1 or H2. #32 ownz the late braking.

Team Carbotech had ZERO brake issue in 2003. ZERO. Both of us running stock ITR set-ups. (Jason with ABS) Using 1108's, 1109's and testing the new 1110's.

Agreed to each their own......

Plenty of possible reasons. Another could be sponsorship... they want their product on the car? :dunno: either.
