Default Problem with headlights, tail lights, dash lights... What could it be?

To make it short.. I turn my headlight switch to the parking light position. All lights are on except headlights. I turn it to the on position and my headlights turn on but every other light goes out (Dash, tails, corner lights).

Anyone know what it could be? I'm figuring it's a short somewhere... I just dont know where it could be.

Right now I get it to click in between on and the parking light notch and everything turns on... but I'd like to fix it. Also, my blinkers blink incredibly fast. I've checked all my bulbs and they are fine. Fuses are fine too.

My guess would be the switch, only a guess though. Any other advise for this guy?

This is the first time i have heard of this particular malfunction. Did it all of a sudden start doing this, or has it done this since you have had the car? Is there any aftermarket wiring going on under the dash(e.g. aftermarket car alarm)?

It has done it ever since I got the car. I have a motor swap and I have an alarm installed. Those things have been done since I've owned the car though. Also there's this chip I have to plug in under the dash to start the car. That's been there since I got the car too.

Sounds like somewhere along the line, somebody fudged up your under dash wiring. I would start by removing everything aftermarket under there, and possibly re-installing it. Or take it to a professional to see if they can recognize any fubar wiring?

Fast flashing blinkers indicate a dead bulb or relay. Have someone hit the brakes for you and verify all your lights are working properly. And check function of all exterior bulbs. If everything appears fine, you might want to take a look at the relays.
