Unorthodox Ultra R Underdrive Race Crank Pulley for 88-91 Si/CRX
Has anyone ever tried one of these? Any gains to be had? Since I'm taking my a/c off, I figured I'll only need the alt. driven.
I know there is the myth about the oem crank pulley balancing the engine, but how are the D series? I think they are internally balanced, correct?

The crank pulley does NOT balance the motor, but rids of bearing pounding forces on a long stroke D16 motor.
So I shouldn't have any problems then if I install the unorthodox pulley, correct? My a6 must stay internally stock for class rules.
why not get a stock HF or VX pulley which only has an alternator option, much cheaper and its got a harmonic balancer build in so no problem should arise

See, now I'm lost on what to do. My R has been running pulleys for the past year and a half and I've been ok so far. What will the lighter (but balanced) unortho. unit do to the motor that's so bad? If the engine is internally balanced, then the dampener (rubber isolation layer) on the stock honda is only there to quiet the accessories down and not balance the engine, correct?
In theory, disconnecting the p/s belt on a stock pulley would cause the same amount of harm because you'd be changing things up, so to speak.

Hey Todd,
My car ran fine this year with an ASP underdrive pulley. I'm not sure how it compares to the Unorthodox pulley, though. I guess I'll find out for sure here in a couple weeks when I pull the motor out of the black car. .040 over next year

B motors don't have a dampen pulley.
A inline 4 cylinder is the WORST motor, it will beat itself apart.
I'd give you a link, but ENDYN BBS is down.

Fred, guess I'll know to change my numbers before coming to Columbus for a autox event. I ran 13 CSP on my last set of numbers.
But that was almost 2 years ago!
