Default Exhaust leak at flexpipe?

Ok i got my prospeed header (mild steel) all welded up. I herd a fluttering noise under the car afterwards. I put my hand under there and felt air coming out of the flexpipe. So now i know my flex pipe must have got too hot during welding and took a crap on me. I already have the same exact flexpipe on the exhuast piping itself. I was wondering if i can just take out the flexpipe on the header itself bc i have one on my exhaust. I also have a motor that does not move whatsoever bc of my motor mounts. Would it be ok to just remove the flexpipe and weld up a straight pipe.

i'd weld a straight pipe. if your scared of your geaders breaking or something find the smallest of a flex pipe that you can, i've seen thn as small as like 3-4 inches long

put a "doughnut" style flange where the flexpipe connects and everything should be ok.

they use these in stock civics...

I have it on my 5th gen lude cuz it kept breaking on me. I have a 2.5"collector modded DC header. Since then no problems...

DO NOT put a straightpipe where the flexpipe is unless you want it to break off and ruin everything...

good luck

what kind of flexpipe breaks? thats weird.. do you mind me asking where you got yours from and how long is the flex section, SS or not? i just bought a SS one off ebay and it looks to be good quality.

I don't think a doughnut flexjoint would be enough flexibility for a mild steel header that has some fitment issues.

i have experienced it 3 times with changing the flexpipe off my header and it broke all 3 times

so i then replaced it with a doughnut type of connector and no problems ever since. Ive had it for over 6 month snow and no problems.. When i replaced t he flexpipe with another it broke within a couple months of each other.

Its just my experience..

definitely put some sort of flex pipe there to replace it, even if its a shorty like 6" that will be fine. eventhough yoru motor might be solidily mounted and wont move, the rest of teh exhuast will still want to pivot around abit, and with a solid straight pipe, your just waiting for something to crack.

I already rewelded it up with a straight pipe. I have a flexpipe right after the resonator i was thinking that would be good enough.
