Special tool to remove chankshaft bolt?
Is there such a thing? I am doing a timing belt R&R and have heard the stories about removing the bolt. Just want to get it done with a minimum hassle.
i went and bought a mac 600lb/ft impact and that usually works and if it doesnt i bust out the oxy/acy torch and heat it up. works every time. If it wont come off, DONT stick somethin in the pulley or engine and break it loose. It really should be done with an impact.
Well there is the holder tool that fits the huge socket-shaped part in the pulley and braces against the radius rod, or attaches to a huge handle, but not many people have those.
to a huge impact gun.

Snap on makes one, and I know Moroso makes one too, check http://www.summitracing.com for the Moroso one.

I think the amount of cash you will spend for that tool will probably not be worth it.
There is a special tool. It is called a powerfull impact gun.

Werd...this Moroso unit is an excellent well built and the most usefull tool to use for this bitch of a bolt. Use this in conjunction with a 1/2" breaker bar and the bolt will come out everytime.

What engine do you have?
Most D16a6 or D15b2 will have a crank pulley that looks like this:

That tool won't really help if your pulley looks like that..

for a pulley like that....you will have to order a Honda tool specifically for that pulley or make your own if you know how to weld.
The tool I heard about fits into those 'holes' around the pully to give you leverage. I will go to Summitt and Moroso and look at those for starts.

Yep, The Moroso peice is about $50 so, go out and buy a $250+ impact? it'll be much more worth it

Yeah, but he can use that impact to dismantle the whole damn car.. you can only use it for a bolt. lol.. I'd rather have the impact wrench and the Moroso.

i bought mine from matco for 65 bucks and it works fine. but most people will use a impact but if you have to be cheap put a socket with a long extension and ratchet, and just crank the motor over it will work but it is not recommended, i did it once on my old prelude and it worked fine but getting the proper tool is alot easier.......

Sorry,That won't work with an engine that runs "counter-clockwise.."

Just came back from Northern Hydrolics. They have some 700 ft/lb air ratchets For $114 at half price. I have a big compressor from when we reshingled my roof. I'll just get a 1/2" drive 17mm air socket and a can of whoop-***, put the car in 5th and have me an extraction party!
